The other day while attending the regional appearance of Wednesday 13, I hit the merchandise table and learned that working with the band on the tour was the lead singer of a group called Repulsur; She goes by the stage name of Lerin-gitis but I’m sure that you can call her Lerin if you are given permission. She had the bands EP “XXX” with her and I was happy to get a copy of it to discuss here on the website. “XXX” is a really driving 3 song EP that begins with a raspy growl in “The Learning Curve”. Lerin doesn’t have a sweet and demure sort of vocal register and instead came off with the kind of commanding voice that one might have found in the daughter of the late great Lemmy and Wendy Williams might have given us. The chorus of this one might find you raising a fist into the air along with her if you should see a concert performance.
The disdain continues as she raises Cain against what seemed to be a failed relationship in “Every Day I Hate You”. This is a faster tune with some solid riffing. The quick listen closes with “Toxic Lady” which the singer gives the world a general fair warning about what they are dealing with when it comes to her. Lerin doesn’t seem like someone that you want to cross for any reason based on these three rocking tracks. JT Longoria handles all of the instruments and did the production on the EP and I learned from talking to Lerin that he also goes by “Kitty”. During shows there are hired gun live musicians but no one who has done that appears on the EP and perhaps might for some future work. Only time will tell. You need to hit their Facebook to see the kind of presentation Leringitis and Repulsur bring to the table as she comes across like some Alien from the farthest reaches of a Dark Galaxy. She does NOT come in peace my friends and instead plans to conquer your paltry worlds with sonic thunder. Good stuff. I greatly enjoyed this EP based on its drive and very sound production value. I should warn the listener that there are a bunch of expletives around the tracks so be wary of your surroundings (such as the office etc.)
If you want to give this EP a chance, just visit the merchandise booth at the Wednesday 13/One-Eyed Doll shows that are currently in progress as it’s a mere bag of shells in terms of the price. I think she wanted $3 for them and you can even get a photo with Lerin if she doesn’t mind that sort of thing going on. The remaining show dates are lined out on THIS LINK for reference. I’m going to be watching the skies for more stuff from Repulsur and checking in with Star Fleet to make sure that they are aware of her existence as well.
