The Details: You don’t need to have Eddie Trunk tell you that the great UFO are a legendary band and one that needs to be a part of your Hard Rock listening experience based on their continued activity in recording and rocking shows. They have countless tunes that have inspired greatness and they continue to do so today and that makes me excited about offering up this quick contest to see them perform for the very first time at the brand new Stage 48 club in NYC. Thanks to their marketing staff, two lucky PiercingMetal readers will get the chance to go to this show for free. Keep reading for details.
When and Where: Tuesday October 15th at Stage 48 (605 West 48th Street NYC)
To Participate: This is an easy one. Tell me three of your absolute favorite UFO tunes and name me one band that you think had been influenced by them. I will be picking through the responses and letting the winners know right below their comment. Please remember to enter the comment form with your full real name and a working email address because we might need to reach you. Do not enter this information in the comment itself out of privacy concerns. I would advise to subscribe to the comments for the duration of the contest and must ask that you only enter once. I would be remiss if I didn’t say that UFO had a wealth of great releases for you to indulge in and here are some of the selections that I recommend to you. A lot of affordable collections so upgrade that library and learn a few of these tunes. I will be watching for your YouTube video submissions ?
I would love to see UFO! My 3 favorite tracks are Lights Out, Love to Love and Back into My Life (From the later-era band). Bands iinfluenced by them? How long have you got! Iron Maiden obviously, this band Audrey Horne from Norway have that UFO-ish sound as well.
You can’t mention UFO without “Doctor Doctor” popping in your mind. Other great tunes for me are “Only You Can Rock Me” and “Rock Bottom”. Iron maiden was definitely influenced by UFO.

Doctor Doctor, which was covered by my 1st band Abusement Park. Natural Thing and Only You Can Rock Me. iron Maiden and Metallica are two bands I know who were influenced by UFO. Maiden actually did a cover of Doctor Doctor.
