The Details: There are many who referred to Cactus as “The American Led Zeppelin” and those are some seriously big words to stand with if you are a band but when you consider the fact that this powerhouse quartet that came to be with members of The Vanilla Fudge, Mitch Ryder’s Detroit Wheels and The Amboy Dukes. The original lineups presence upon the music scene was not that long but their power and sound would resonate for decades to follow and find them influencing the likes of Van Halen, The Black Crowes, Montrose and even the mighty Anvil. In 2013 we find the band featuring two original members with Carmine Appice and Jim McCarty who are joined by the talented Jimmy Kunes (vocals), Pete Bremy (bass) and Randy Pratt (harmonica) and thanks to the fine folks at B.B. King’s, we are going to put some lucky PiercingMetal fans into the show for free. Read below on how to participate.

Cactus is one of those bands that I always wanted to see and always postponed. Rock ‘n Roll from the 70’s, can it get better than that? Also Carmine is a great rock drummer, just like his brother Vinnie, and while I saw Vinnie twice live, I never saw Carmine. I see that Vanilla Fudge already had their farewell tour, so I’m afraid I won’t have many chances left to see this legendary drummer live. I hope I win a ticket this time.
Well Daniel, while Vanilla Fudge announced during their “Farewell Tour” that it was not the final go round, we cannot have you waiting until their return to see the legendary Carmine. I think you will enjoy him in this band a little more so congrats on winning one of our tickets to the show on Saturday. Please stay tuned for the full details on how to claim it which will come as a new comment from me.
While I’m not familiar with the music, I know of the legend. I want to see the great Cactus tear it up on stage. No better way to learn. Also, how can I miss Carmine? I saw him bash for MSG and was thrilled. I thought it would be my only shot at seeing him. This show would be another great notch to add to the old show belt.
Jason you are so right. The best way to learn about a band is in the live sense and I tell you Cactus still tears up the stage thanks to the mighty Carmine Appice. Congrats on winning one of our tickets. Please stay tuned to the comments for the details that I will be posting sometime on Friday.
Carmine is the legend of rock and roll drumming. I’m so happy that at this age he still RULEZ. Also a nice dude none the less!
A legend without question and an inspiration to watch each and every time. Congrats Tamas because you won a ticket to the show on Saturday so please stay tuned to the comments for the details on how you claim this at the show.
I am familiar with all of Carmine’s projects. (I think) but Cactus for some reason passed me by. I had heard of them in 2008 when their last studio album came out and it was highly recommended. Carmine, Cactus, BB Kings, NYC. What’s better than this?
Then let’s have them pass you by no longer Kenn because you have won a ticket to the show on Saturday. Please stay tuned to the comments for the details from me on how you claim it.
