Win Tix To See Robin Zander In NYC On 4/4/2013

Poster - Robin Zander at BB Kings - 2013

The Details: I’ve been a fan of Cheap Trick’s Robin Zander since the first time I heard him singing on that legendary album “Live At Budokan”. The live recording was a juggernaut and while the band had been around for a few years already, this was my own introduction and beginning of my appreciation of his incredible style. I am not alone in this by any means. That being said, I am incredibly excited to have this latest contest thanks to the folks at B.B. King Blues Club for his performance this week. Zander will be bringing along Zebra’s Randy Jackson as his opener. This is going to be a good one, read on to learn how to participate.

When and Where: Thursday, April 4th at B.B. King Blues Club (237 West 42nd Street, NYC)

To Participate: Simply put, let me know how much Robin’s contributions to music have meant to you as a fan or as a musician and I will be picking out a few of the best responses. It never hurts to reference a song or two in this. Be sure to list your full real name and an email address in the comment form, but not in the space where you type the comment to protect your privacy. Only we see it as admins. It also is a good idea to subscribe to comments so you know if you have won. I will be replying directly to the winning comments until I run out of places. No guest or anonymous submissions will be considered.

Restrictions: While all PiercingMetal.com contests are open to our regional site readers, we do look at new responders first in order to give everyone a fair shot at enjoying a show on the provider and us. Of course we still encourage all to respond because you never know just how many tickets we are offering. Anonymous or Guest submissions while approved are not eligible.

Robin Zander’s solo album came out many years ago and is now a high priced item. With that being the case I have instead embedded some must have releases from both artists performing at this show. Really great stuff.

  1. Been a big fan of Cheap Trick’s since I was a kid in the mid ’80s. When I took my girlfriend to Niagara Falls in the summer of 2011, I found out that CP was playing a free outdoor show in nearby Lewiston, NY and re-arranged the entire trip to see them. She was none too pleased but we’re getting married next month so I guess she got over it. My favorite hit song is “Surrender” but deeper in their catalogue I’m a big fan of “Eight Miles Low”. I’d love to see Robin solo in my favorite venue of B.B. King’s. And I’d love to see Randy Jackson for the first time live too!

  2. Robin like fine wine simply gets better with age. Ive seen Cheap Trick 10 times and never a bad show. How can you go wrong with Dream Police, Surrender, and I want you to want me? He has a vocal texture that allows him to rock out and at the same time be so tender and emotional. In my eyes the Flame is the greatest Ballad in Hard Rock. If you want the straight up you can enjoy If It Takes A Lifetime, You’re All I wanna do, or go a little deeper ith Tonight It’s You or If You Want My Love. Plus he (well the band) worked with Lennon. Such a great and enduring talent. Been a longtime fan of Zebra and spent many a night in that famous club in Brooklyn or in the general tri-state area.

  3. My history with cheap trick goes a long way back, over 30 years in fact. I remember watching the 1979 classic teen movie Over The Edge on HBO in the early 80s as a young child. Cheap Trick has 4 songs on that soundtrack, and those songs stuck with me until i was old enough to purchase their records. Songs like Way Of The World, She’s Tight & If You Want My Love were staples of early MTV. Who could forget the classic scene in Fast Times At Ridgemont High when scalper Mike Damone tries to push Cheap Trick tickets on an interested girl. (“The magnetism of Robin Zander, the charisma of Rick Nielson.”) Seen CT about 8 times in the past, and i’m really curious about the Robin Zander band. As for favorite CT songs i won’t pick the obvious Surrender even though its one of the greatest songs ever. Instead, my top 3 would be He’s a Whore, Downed & Auf Wiedersehen.

  5. “Contest Closed” so no more entry submissions please as they will not be valid. All winners have been notified under their comments. To claim the prize just go to the venue podium down at the venue entrance with proof of ID and ask for the House List. Your name will be on there but there is no physical ticket to speak of. Should you find any issue, please ask for a manager on duty and mention this giveaway was done in partnership with PiercingMetal.com – I’ll be at the show myself and am looking forward to a rocking time. Don’t miss Randy Jackson’s set. Enjoy.
