Win A Ticket To See Robin Zander @ B.B. King’s On 2/5/2015

Poster - Robin Zander at BB Kings - 2015

The Details: I’ve been a fan of Cheap Trick’s Robin Zander since the first time I heard him singing on that legendary album “Live At Budokan”. The live recording was a juggernaut and while the band had been around for a few years already, this was my own introduction and beginning of my appreciation of his incredible style. I am not alone in this by any means. That being said, I am incredibly excited to announce that PiercingMetal’s first contest of 2015 comes care of the fine folks at B.B. King Blues Club for Robin’s performance on Thursday. According to the press release, Mr. Zander will be doing a load of Cheap Trick hits along with numerous Classic Rock favorites that are sure to set the room on end. Having caught this show back in 2013 I can tell you quite honestly that this is going to be a really great show. Read more below on how to participate.

To Participate: Simply put, let me know how much Robin’s contributions to music have meant to you as a fan or as a musician and I will be picking out a few of the best responses that I receive. It never hurts to reference a song or two in this kind of thing as well. Be sure to list your full real name and a working email address in the comment form, but not in the space where you type the comment to protect your privacy. It’s only visible by Admins then in case you need to be contacted about the show. Please enter only once and subscribe to comments so you know if you have won. I will be replying directly to the winning comments until I run out of places. Bring it on.

When and Where: Thursday, February 5th at B.B. King Blues Club (237 West 42nd Street, NYC)

Restrictions: contests are open to all of our regional site readers but we always look at the newest contributors first in order to give everyone a fair shot at enjoying a show on the provider and us. Of course we still encourage all to respond because you never know just how many tickets we are offering. This is for a single ticket only with no exceptions and we ask that you only enter if you can and will attend should you win. If you are hundreds of miles or hours and hours away this will likely not be something easily attended and we don’t want to bypass someone who is able to come based on being close by. Please be aware that Anonymous or Guest submissions while approved are not eligible to win this contest.

Robin Zander’s solo album came out many years ago and is now a high priced item. With that being the case I have instead embedded some must have releases from both artists performing at this show. Really great stuff.

  1. I too have been a fan of Robin Zander since the “Live At Budokan” album. While their 1988’s “Lap of Luxury” album also did well, I still think Budokan influenced artists such as Joey Ramone, Smashing Pumpkins, and even Taylor Hanson (yes, the Mmmbop guy, lol).

I’ve never seen Robin Zander outside of the Cheap Trick line-up, but I’m sure this will be an amazing show! I have many fond memories seeing Cheap Trick in a variety of venues, my favorite was in North NJ at an outdoor summer festival. There were so many people, and he connected with everyone, whether you were in the front row, or in the back under the shaded trees.

    1. Lisa I am going to continue to enhance your being connected with the music of Cheap Trick because you are going to see Robin Zander’s show on Thursday night at B.B. King’s; Please stay tuned to these comments and watch for the one from me that closes it up and lines out the proper details on how you claim the prize. Oh yes, please bring someone along with you to enjoy the show all the more.

  2. There is only Cheap Trick. I love Robin Zander with a light that shines from within. Cheap Trick has been my companion in love, at play, and countless road trips.

I have seen Cheap Trick only once, and only recently at the Wellmont Theater last February. My friend and I braved a snowstorm, walking from the Montclair Train Station with snow and wind blowing at a direct angle at our faces. I screamed during the entire show. It was pure elation. I still have the setlist saved, so I can have close to me and reference like visiting an old friend that brings me such joy. Auf Weidersehen, melted my heart. There they were in full Dream Police regalia, my mind all but exploded.

I can’t tell you what it would mean to me to see Robin again in concert. I have missed too many shows, and now that I know what I missed I want to see them always and every time!

    Yesterday feels like running away
Feels like givin’ the child gettin’ lost losin’ my mind
I’m feelin’ low and i got no place to go

I want to get all tied up with Robin Zander at B.B. Kings!

    1. Alright Danielle you have convinced me so congratulations because you are going to see Robin Zander of Cheap Trick on Thursday at B.B. King’s. Please watch these comments for the one from me that closes it all up and lines out the details. Oh yeah and before I forget, how about you ask someone to join you for this show because its always more fun to rock and roll with a good friend. They can also catch you if you faint from screaming too loud 🙂

  3. “Hello there ladies and gentlemen, hello there ladies and gents; Are you ready to Rock, are you ready or not?”

I could not resist the chance to close up our little Robin Zander contest with a line from the opening to the “Live At Budokan” album and on that note this contest is officially closed so no more entries please. Congratulations to our two winners who are not only attending on the house but also bringing a guest along for the fun.

The Details: On the night of the performance please go to the venue podium downstairs and ask for the House List. Your name will be checked off and you and your guest let into the show. Should you encounter any issues please politely ask for an onsite manager and cite how this contest was done in coordination with venue marketing. I’ll be there as well rocking and rolling so if you see me around please feel free to say hello (just don’t do it while I am shooting photographs or busy thanks).

  4. Robin Zander is a powerhouse sensation fronting Cheap Trick . Amazing songs like “Surrender, “Dream Police”, “If You Want My Love”, “She’s Tight”, “I Want You to Want Me” just to name a few got me into them and his contribution to rock and roll is amazing. Had a solo album of Robin’s and liked the duet “Secret “with Stevie Nicks. Don’t know if I still have that album or not. Robin still has it as a singer. Got to see him with Cheap Truck at the Beacon in 2006 . Seeing him solo would be cool. This entry may be late. Thanks for reading!

    1. Alright Anne so yes the contest is closed but I had one more spot left to fill with a pair of tickets and the venue most kindly obliged the late submission so consider yourself a very lucky person. Going forward I will not be doing this for anyone, even the King should he inquire after the bell has tolled. So please read the Details in my other comment and perhaps you shall see me around the show.
