The Scoop: The Metal Republic of NYC might have only recently got a crushing show by Doro Pesch back in 2013 but that does not mean that The Big Apple Metalheads don’t welcome her back with open arms each time that she honors us with her presence. This year marks the one true Metal Queen’s 30th Anniversary of touring and she is calling this short run of US Regional Dates her “Strong and Proud” tour. I mentioned once before that I had enjoyed the music of Doro since she was in Warlock, and have continually been impressed by her genuine positivity towards her loyal fans as she delivers the goods on the stage like few others even dare attempt. It’s without a doubt that when you go to a Doro show, you are entertained and left screaming for more. Her show in NYC is bound to be a special one as she is pulling out the stops by bringing special guests to the stage with her. I am speaking of Bobby Blitz (Overkill), Chris Caffery (Savatage, Trans Siberian Orchestra), Jeff Waters (Annihilator), Leather Leone, Jean Bouvoir (Plasmatics, Crown Of Thorns) and most recently announced Veronica Freeman (Benedictum). Supporting the show will be The Mighty Swine and three talented local bands. This is surely going to be a night to remember for a very long time. That being said, I am super excited to announce that thanks to the folks at Livenation, PiercingMetal.com is going to send some of you to the show for free. Read on.
When & Where: Monday, October 20th, 7pm @ Gramercy Theatre (127 East 23rd Street NYC).
To Participate: When Doro last came around I did a contest for her show and I liked this premise so much that I decided to use it again. With Doro Pesch being the true ruling Queen of the Metal Realm, she must have a number of loyal knights in her service. Let’s have a little fun with this my readers and tell me who four of these knights might be and why you picked them. When I meant knights I mean individual players from bands outside of her own. I will be looking at the best comments and letting winners know if they have won a ticket right here in the post. You can sweeten the pot by telling me also how important her music is to you as a fan or musician yourself. I would number all this stuff sequentially. Remember to put your full real name and a working email address into the comment form so you can be reached about the show. This information is not shared and only I see the email address. Do not put this information into the comment itself as that would be public and I don’t want you spammed. Bring it on.
Restrictions: All PiercingMetal.com contests are open to our regional readers, Facebook and Twitter followers, but be aware that if you recently won any of these gives that we are looking for new participants first to give everyone a fair chance at enjoying a concert for free. For the Doro show I would also prefer that you are NOT someone who has won a ticket to see her under our list because this keeps it all the more fair. Anonymous and Guest submissions while approved will be immediately disqualified and please only enter once and know that all comments are moderated.

Here’s a nice bunch of music from the great Doro Pesch and Warlock. Indulge your collection with our Queens finest offerings.
Her first loyal knight would be none other than Dave Mustaine. Megadeth was responsible for taking Warlock out on their first US tour. Loyal knight #2 would be Gene Simmons who produced Doro’s self titled 2nd album in 1990. I’m sure he got his hands on her personal control knobs as well. The third loyal knight would be the late Peter Steele who did a duet with Ms. Pesch on the song “Descent.” Loyal knight #4 comes in the form of Dee Snider whom Doro performed a duet with on Twisted Sister’s pointless A Twisted Christmas album.
I try to never miss Doro when she plays New York. Such a great performer, but this show is going to be extra special since Jeff Waters & Chris Caffery will be there. A show not be missed.
Hey that is some good stuff George. Congratulations as you have won a ticket to see Doro at Gramercy Theatre on Monday. Please stay tuned to the comments for the instructions on how to claim it once we close up the contest.
Doro’s knight would be of course first Lemmy from Motorhead, who would defend her honor with a bottle of Jack and a pack of red Marlboros. Then we would also have as a knight Udo Dirkschneider dressed in commando pants and AR-15s and finally, for spice, Jeff Walker from Carcass with bloody apron and scalpels.
Doro is truly the metal Queen, being a pioneer of good quality female fronted heavy metal.
Brief and to the point Stefan. Congratulations as you have won a ticket to see Doro at Gramercy Theatre on Monday. Please stay tuned to the comments for the instructions on how to claim it once we close up the contest.
The first loyal knight for our queen of metal would be Lemmy.
Her collaboration with Lemmy started a tradition of many singing duets. Loyal knight #2 would be the legendary late Ronnie James Dio for giving her the opportunity as a supporting act for Dio back in 2000. It was her first tour back in the U.S after 10 years. Doro performs a great Dio cover song Egypt (The chains are on). She even continued to collaborate with Dio Disciples. Loyal knight #3 Yngwie Malmsteen whom also joined forces with Dio and Doro for the exclusive U.S tour. Several years also had passed since his last U.S performance. This was a short tour that was long awaited for. Last but not least loyal knight #4 would be former Megadeth guitarist Jeff Young. Doro toured with Megadeth back in 88. It was an intense tour that gained much popularity for both bands.
Doro’s music is important to me because she devoted her life to perform for us. She truly appreciates all her fans. She has consistently impressed me since the Warlock years.
Nicely said Jeanny. Congratulations as you have won a ticket to see Doro at Gramercy Theatre on Monday. Please stay tuned to the comments for the instructions on how to claim it once we close up the contest.
Doro has been blessed with amazing looks and working with some amazing Knights.
Her first knight the late great Ronnie James Dio. Egypt the Chains are on is a regular song she plays live. Too amazing people who love and treated their fans like gold.
Lemmy. Doro has chosen to work with the baddest mofo in rock music in the last 40 yrs. In this case its beauty and the beast.
Geoff Tate and her would make amazing music and were the best in their genre for 30 yrs. Great voices and great stage presence.
Pete Steele. Another RIP legend and DORO would just seem so hot working and being together doing a song together.
I remember a few yrs back Crazy Donkey Farmingdale NY gig it was around her birthday and fan made her a birthday cake with her image on it and DORO came out after show and hung out with fans in the crowd and enjoyed her cake with all us fans, So sweet and classy. Was crushed yrs ago when I read Hurricane Sandy destroyed her LI home. I hope all her music memoribila was kept somewhere safe. Seb Bach in NJ lost all his stuff in Sandy.
Go to youtube look up DORO Dio cover Egypt Chains are on at Crazy Donkey. I shot it and have gotten over 5000 hits. DORO is loved all around the world. No one better
Well done Christopher. Congratulations as you have won a ticket to see Doro at Gramercy Theatre on Monday. Please stay tuned to the comments for the instructions on how to claim it once we close up the contest.
Doro’s first knight would be Udo Dirkschneider of U.D.O. Both being two of the most important voices in German-exported metal, and the duet they did “Dancing with an angel”, it only makes sense. A close second would be Mark Tornillo, since he graciously filling Udo’s shoes in Accept and they have also performed “East meets west” on stage together. A third, even though she’s female, would be Liv Jagrell, singer of Sister Sin. She was nice enough to take them out on tour with them last year and did a great duet of the Motorhead song “Rock ‘n Roll”. Her fourth knight would definitely be Blaze Bayley. Their orchestral duet on “Fear of the dark” was just brilliant.
I’ve been a fan since the Warlock years and am glad to see that she’s carrying the torch for the brilliant 4 albums they made, along with her solo material that follows even to this day.
Kudos for bringing up Liv in this. She rocks. Congratulations as you have won a ticket to see Doro at Gramercy Theatre on Monday. Please stay tuned to the comments for the instructions on how to claim it once we close up the contest.
Her knights should be lemme kilmister (he’s a god and a badass so this goes without explaining more!), George corpsegrinder of cannibal corpse (he’ll deal with taking people out on horrible manners. Lol), james Hetfield (he’s a Hunter now he hunts bad guys!), and finally Bruce Dickinson as the wise leader the crew.
Succinct \m/ . Congratulations as you have won a ticket to see Doro at Gramercy Theatre on Monday. Please stay tuned to the comments for the instructions on how to claim it once we close up the contest.
Alright warriors of the Metal Realm this contest for Doro’s upcoming show on Monday is 100% officially closed. No more submissions please. Congratulations to all of our winners for the fine job. On the night of the show go to the venue box office and ask for the Livenation guest list. Your name will be there and possibly with a PiercingMetal contest reference. You will need ID or this webpage to prove you are you so I think the drivers license a little easier to carry around. They will then give you your ticket and inside you go to rock with the Metal Queen. Should you encounter any difficulty please politely ask for a venue manager and cite how this contest was done in conjunction with Livenation Marketing.
I’ll be at the show too so if you see me feel free to say hello (just make sure I am not taking photographs first).
