The Details: For the past thirty five years Anvil have proven themselves to be Road Warriors and a band whose very existence is a testament to the power of friendship and a common goal. The world witnessed this with the hit documentary film “Anvil: The Story of Anvil” but the band didn’t sit back and let their overnight success spoil them and instead kept on touring and releasing music. The band is now signed to The End Records and is supporting their latest release “Hope In Hell” and thanks to the awesome folks at Livenation, PiercingMetal is going to put a few lucky fans into the show. Read more below on how to participate in this Metal Month of May contest. Read on about how you can attend this rescheduled show from March for free.
When and Where: Tuesday, May 20th @ Santo’s Party House at 7pm (96 Lafayette St. NYC).
To Participate: I will leave this one as an easy one. Give me three reasons why the music of Anvil has mattered to you so much and make them good ones. Don’t just leave it simple since I will not be impressed with “because they’re cool man”. I will be selecting some of the submissions and replying directly to their comment to let them know. Be sure to enter your full real name and a working email address in the comment form as we shall need that for the list. It also never hurts to subscribe to the comments for the duration of the contest and since all comments are moderated, please only enter once. Go get ‘em.
Restrictions: All of the PiercingMetal contests are open to our loyal readers, Facebook Page likers and Twitter Followers but that being said we are still looking for the new names first so EVERYONE gets the chance to enjoy a show on the provider and us. Since we never let on how many we have its always smart to send a submission just in case there is the room. We do keep track of the winner list but please be aware that if you had won something over the last month or so of contests your chances are less likely for this one. Please note that “Guest” and “Anonymous” submissions are not eligible either.

There are a LOT of Anvil albums to enjoy from over the course of their career and a couple of years ago those fine folks at The End Records re-mastered and re-released a healthy majority of their catalog. I dug into the Internet grindstone with zeal to provide you with links that help you complete your collection.
My entry from the contest in March before the show got postponed:
1. I remember waiting outside of Gramercy Theatre in 2009 with a handful of people looking for a ticket to the sold out premiere screening of the Anvil Documentary. A man approached us and told us he was going to see what he can do and few minutes later he told us we could all be allowed in, just as long as we stood at the side by the bar. Hell, he even gave each one of us a beer.
It wasn’t until later I found out he was Sasha Gervasi, the director of ‘Anvil! The Story of Anvil’. I think it’s one of the best music documentaries ever made. I don’t think people have to be a fan of Anvil, or even metal to be able to enjoy it. In the end, it’s all about two friends who started a band, who had the will, persistence, and determination to succeed, and who didn’t give up when many others would have.
2. While Anvil has been underrated the majority of their career, there is perhaps no drummer more underrated than Robb Reiner. All that anyone has to do is go on YouTube and search Robb Reiner drum solo to see the man in action. He is perhaps Canada’s second best rock/metal drummer (behind Neil Peart, of course).
3. I have not seen Anvil since Maryland Deathfest 2012. Missed seeing them at the Knitting Factory last year, and do not want to miss them again this time.
Hey Daniel, you will be catching up with the boys in Anvil on Tuesday because you won a ticket to the show. Please stay tuned for the details on how you claim this that night. They will be posted as a new comment from me which also closes the contest.
