It wasn’t too long ago that the final episode of the Batman pre-history series ended after several thrilling seasons and while initially I was slightly against it, when it all came to the dramatic ending I rather liked it. Now let’s get talking about “Pennyworth” which goes further back in time and is revealing the ancient history of Bruce Wayne’s faithful manservant, Alfred Pennyworth. The trailer for the show just dropped so take a look down below and then review some premise and main casting. I will come back at the close for good measure.

The Premise: Pennyworth follows the Wayne family’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth, a former British SAS soldier who forms a security company and goes to work with Thomas Wayne in 1960s London.”

PiercingMetal Thoughts: As much as I like the character and really enjoyed his portrayal in “Gotham” by Sean Pertwee, I am not 100% sold on a pre-history of Alfred Pennyworth. Sure the trailer looks exciting but maybe as a one-shot film for the DC Universe streaming service more than anything else. As I don’t have the Epix channel in my cable subscription plan I will not be seeing this series until it makes its way over to something else that I pay for. IMHO, this might have worked better on The CW where DC has a whole crop of other universe of shows. Since this is more of an intrigue and spy thriller sort of show, it might have been a welcome change and not be considered yet another superhero show. What did you readers think about this trailer?
