Since I am NOT the biggest gamer out there, I am really behind when it comes to the “Mortal Kombat” franchise. I did see the first film but that feels like a forever ago and now Warner Brothers has decided to reboot said franchise and start us off with this exciting new chapter. Can’t control that my friends but do come back for some light premise, the casting and promotional poster art and my closing opinion on the matter.
The Premise:
A washed-up mixed martial arts fighter named Cole Young is unaware of his hidden lineage or why he is being hunted down by Sub-Zero of the Lin-Kuei clan of assassins. Concerned for the safety of his family, he seeks out a clique of fighters that were chosen to defend Earthrealm in a high-stakes battle against the forces of Outworld.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Having mentioned my lack of overall background to the franchise I can still say that this jarring trailer looks pretty damned exciting. I do know a few of the characters based on all of the comic conventions I’ve attended where there are cosplayers sporting almost every character from these films. As you can see by the main poster up above this will be heading to limited theaters and on HBO Max which is where I will be watching it since I am not hitting a movie theater until I am vaccinated. I will be keeping tabs on this film though because I am sure that some of our other Pop Culture features will find some toy and comic book announcements from this film.
