Is it possible that we’ve not gotten another clip for the “SHAZAM!” film since the Comic Con International: San Diego event? It sure does seem like it and while this latest share is called “Meet SHAZAM!” more than “Official Trailer #1” it was long enough to put in front of you. Let’s take a look. I’ve even added some posters below the premise and casting for your enjoyment.
The Synopsis: Two years after Steppenwolf’s invasion, Billy Batson, a troubled 14-year-old orphan living in Philadelphia, is set up to move into a new foster home – his seventh in a row – with the Vazquez family and their other five foster kids in Fawcett City. One day, Billy gets on a subway car and finds himself transported to a different realm where an ancient wizard gives him the power to transform into a godlike adult superhero by uttering the word “Shazam!” Billy and his new foster brother Freddy Freeman must learn what Billy’s new powers are and how to use them in order to stop the villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana from nefarious acts, with powers of his own. PiercingMetal Thoughts: At the time of this video sharing narrative, we’ve learned that the sequel to “Wonder Woman” which will be called “Wonder Woman 1984”, will NOT be coming out this year and has instead been pushed back to be released sometime in 2020. I don’t know who is in charge of planning over there at Warner Brothers Pictures but with Disney and Marvel Studios releasing three films this year it doesn’t make sense to limit ones output. So my thoughts on the clip before we go, I did enjoy this one and the more I think about it, the more I am feeling that this will be a lot of fun. I recalled one of the free comics that were given away at last years NY Comic Con which was a more modernized take on “SHAZAM” and in the story he kept the Billy Batson persona. Having not followed the character for some years I was not sure if this was the case for awhile now or just a revisionist take from “The New 52”. The recently released “Aquaman” had some tongue in cheek humor and worked out quite well, so if they are smart with the script this could be just as thrilling a ride. The film opens in April, after Marvel’s “Captain Marvel” which is almost comical since “SHAZAM!” is actually the DC Captain Marvel but oh well. What did you readers think of this “Meet” clip?
