The last time that the world at large was being spooked by the Evil Dead was in the “Ash Versus Evil Dead” show that really had as much tongue in cheek stuff going on as well as the horror side and now its time for “Evil Dead Rise” which will be released in April. The Green Band version of the Official Trailer can be viewed below and its pretty scary. I’d watch this with the lights on if you can. I’ll also share a link to the Red Band Trailer down below the premise, casting and promotional artwork.
The Premise: In the fifth Evil Dead film, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A. apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable. PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’ve said this before that I enjoy the occasional Horror film but am more keyed into the ones with the monster murderer chasing people around during the course of the film ala Jason Voorhees, Freddy, and Michael Myers. I didn’t see the original “Evil Dead” films with Ash but got into the idea when that show aired and I really enjoyed it. This looks super scary and should keep people jumping out of their seats. It’s too early for me to decide whether I will be catching this one or not but maybe I will. A good scare always manages to jolt you properly and make you relieved that such things are not going on in the outside world. Or are they?
