While we are still a little under seven days out to the release of “The End” by the time I get this single review online, the mighty and most legendary Black Sabbath has been enjoying their musical retirement since February of this year. The final show in Birmingham, England where they formed was the last time that they raised the horns together for the Metal Legions. So far, two other singles have been issued with “Paranoid” and “N.I.B.” and since I’ve briefly touched upon them, why not offer up some thoughts on the final single and very impacting Heavy Metal track “War Pigs”.
Since I’ll be doing a full-on review of the album and video release, I’ll keep this one short and say outside of “Paranoid” is there any other song in the Black Sabbath repertoire that is more loved? I hardly think so and feel that if you played music of this kind in your life that you also learned how to do this one. The band was sounding their doomish best but I’ve said something along those lines. During the playing back of this classic single, I found myself not only singing along to all the words but also doing air drums and guitar. Oh don’t laugh you know you do the same thing. Though I will likely say this in the longer album review, thank you so very much Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Tommy Clufetos for delivering a magnificent tune in celebration of the chapters end. That’s all I have on this one.
