It was more than thirty years ago when Steve Grimmett screamed at us with a supersonic howl about seeing us in Hell with the quite underground but still Metal as all get out Grim Reaper. I remember having that first single as some kind of free flimsy inclusion to a magazine and I played it to death. In today’s music geography, singer Steve Grimmett has assembled a worthy team of players for a project called Steve Grimmett’s Grim Reaper. Their signed to Dissonance Productions and the first single from the forthcoming album is called “Walking In The Shadows”. Here are some thoughts on the tune.

Simply put this brings the classic sound of what many loved about Grim Reaper into the now. Steve still sounds solid at the vocals and while he doesn’t soar as high as he used to way back in the day, who actually does at this point in time. The song is a catchy one and easy enough to find yourself rocking out to after only a couple of listens. The album bears the same name and he is joined by Ian Nash – Guitars, Martin Trail – Bass and Paul White – Drums. There is some fine lead guitar breaks by Nash during the solo part and I am curious to hear him do the Bowcott leads in the live sense. It’s all tied together with a firm rhythm section. The album comes out in October but this is a nice taste of what I anticipate to be a good traditional Metal album.
