Now that Christmas is over its time to get back to Heavy Metal tacks and start penciling in how we are going to start our music scene support in 2016 which is right around the corner as I write this. There are already quite a few interesting events for the first week of the New Year and this notice serves to inform the masses about the month long tour by Venom Inc. and Necrophagia. Check out the poster, the press release and the dates below. I’ll return to briefly share my thoughts.
The Press Release:
UK-based metallers, VENOM INC., will kick off their long-anticipated North American tour next month. Initially scheduled to take place this past Fall but postponed, the rescheduled demolition will pillage its way through nearly two dozen cities from January 5th through January 28th.
VENOM INC. features original Venom members guitarist Jeff “Mantas” Dunn and drummer Anthony “Abaddon” Bray with former Venom bassist/vocalist Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan. The band made their live debut as VENOM INC. in April 2015 at the Keep It True Festival in Lauda-Königshofen, Germany, performing a full set of Venom classics and played to over 30,000 people at Heavy Montreal last August. Dolan and Dunn have spent the last few years collaborating in M:Pire Of Evil, who released their latest full-length, Crucified, in May 2013. VENOM INC. took to the streets early this past Fall on the lengthy Iron And Steel European Tour before closing the year with a Latin American live takeover. This January, North America will finally get its venomous baptism with the band again performing a full set of Venom’s most revered tunes.

Necrophagia will be touring in support of their latest full-length WhiteWorm Cathedral out now via Season Of Mist. Formed in 1983, Necrophagia was one of the very first death metal bands in the United States. Often considered pioneers in the “horror metal” genre, the band gained notoriety after cutting their teeth in the underground by staging ambitious live shows, chock full of blood, guts and gore. Necrophagia went on to receive world-wide acclaim for 1998’s genre-defining Holocausto de la Morte full-length featuring Pantera frontman Philip H. Anselmo. Following this landmark album, the band went on to release several well-received full lengths and EPs, most of them still available at the Season of Mist shop.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I caught M-Pire of Evil a couple of years ago at Saint Vitus Bar and they were outstanding in their Metal delivery without a doubt. When they dropped down the goods of the classic Venom numbers I thought the intimate space was going to implode. Now that they have built a sort of unholy trinity of former Venom members this group is sure to kick it up a notch or six. The sound of Necrophagia is new to me so I’ll be making sure to get myself inside early enough to learn more about them when they hit NYC at the gig taking place at Webster Hall. What do you readers think of this tour? Is it something that you are finding on your immediate New Year Metal To Do List? Let me know in the comments and perhaps I will see some of you regional Metal Legions there if I make the show.
