The Toy Fair for 2023 was a great return to form for the massive toy industry trade show and as a media attendee for more than a decade now, I was so happy that it had returned after the pandemic pause. In addition to the photographic company recaps and all of the social media reveals including our Official Instagram Takeover, a number of exhibitor overviews were done for the Official PiercingMetal YouTube Channel. While these videos are resident on the Channel itself, I’ve compiled them into a series of posts to expand the events presence on the website. Our third chapter begins with some incredible statues from our friends at Dark Horse Collectibles.

Checking Out Dark Horse Collectibles @ Toy Fair 2023

The folks at Dark Horse Collectibles have been releasing impressive statues and other assorted trinkets that connect to their licenses. I’ve pointed out that I am not the biggest statue collector myself but I’d not argue with a cool “Witcher” or “Borderlands” character or two if I decided to get into them. As you can see by the sizes in the cases some are quite big and yet the price point is not. Nicely done my friends, nicely done. Now its time for a deep dive into the very stockpiled booth of Diamond Select Toys.

Diamond Select Toys always has an amazing presentation for the media to browse and while this time around they brought a lot of statues and mini-busts, they also had a wealth of their minimates. I am seriously growing fond of those and especially the ones that look like the “Super Joe” action figures. I had those original action figures many years ago but they didn’t withstand the sands of time. I also loved the Venjer from “Dungeons and Dragons” statue. You have to love the Minimates because since they are all a similar size you can play with numerous franchises in one space. Diamond Select Toys also has Vinimates which are a little larger in size and they had a lot of Godzilla ones but they were not a part of this years presentation. Oh well. Now onto the terrifying Trick or Treat Studios.

Checking Out Trick or Treat Studios @ Toy Fair 2023

Historically speaking I don’t believe that I had ever really given a proper look at the stuff from Trick or Treat Studios and they immediately blew me away with those GWAR action figures. These are only the prototypes and I don’t think we’ve ever seen a full gamut of GWAR members cast in plastic so fans of the band will want to keep their eyes peeled for them. I also loved their Ghost stuff and the masks were super awesome. Some of my favorites are the KISS ones of course and the Papa Emeritus and Misfits Fiend along with Cobra Commander. They seem to focus on the Horror genre which is cool. I love a good scary film but haven’t really been watching those of late. Nice to see so many cool properties being released for the fans.
