The Toy Fair for 2023 was a great return to form for the massive toy industry trade show and as a media attendee for more than a decade now, I was so happy that it had returned after the pandemic pause. In addition to the photographic company recaps and all of the social media reveals including our Official Instagram Takeover, a number of exhibitor overviews were done for the Official PiercingMetal YouTube Channel. While these videos are resident on the Channel itself, I’ve compiled them into a series of posts to expand the events presence on the website. Our fourth and final installment for this website shares the finds at the Toy Tokyo booth. They brought a number of their Redoneye Astronauts with them and they were something else.

Now these are surely cool but as you can see in the video they are rather large in size and well, also large in price are are clearly for the more discriminating collector or specialty shop. What I loved about these Redoneye Astronauts was the fact that they were all painted up as different characters while all keeping the same related design if you were someone that would end up purchasing more than one. Toy Tokyo is known for having a number of specialty exclusives that really focus on a specific niche. For me, if these were maybe 6″ statues I’d look into them and as many know I don’t get much into the sculpture side of toy collecting. Next and last up will be a view of some special trinkets from the Shire Post Mint.

While this kind of stuff is not usually what I will lock into for myself, I do love quirky and well-crafted items and the Shire Post Mint sure had a lot of cool things in a very small space. There are lots of finely crafted coins and charms and those friends in your circle might be something that makes their day. I envision seeing stuff like this as endcaps in your big book stores or museum shops more than some of the things you might see in the comic book store. After talking to them they handed me a small pizza slice charm. It’s really cool and I need to figure out where to display it. I’m not sure I can hang it next to my Mjolnir despite my love of pizza because that will be rather weird. Either way I will be looking into what they have going forward because these might make some really cool gifts and I liked a few of the things they had listed on their website. That’s going to bring me to the end of these video overviews from the perspective of PiercingMetal but don’t you worry, I did a number of similar clips for the Piercing Ken side of the fence as well. A lot of you know how I expand the level of coverage from Toy Fair by posting on that site in addition to here and this way their representatives get more bang for their buck when they approve us for the media badge.
