Hey there my friends in comic book geekdom. I just wanted to take a moment to remind the interested masses that today is “Free Comic Book Day” at your participating local comic book shops. It’s a fun day for sure as it helps to encourage more people to get into the comic book collecting hobby. This has been one of my hobbies for years but truth be told I am not snagging as many books these days as there are just too many that I like and its probably time to start filtering some of them out. I’m posting this early because since its a day loaded with freebies, one has to be on point nice and early at the shops that are taking part in the fun. My overall plan is to begin at the Galaxy Collectibles shop in Park Slope which is connected to my own local store Galaxy Comics in Bay Ridge. Sadly that store is not participating so down to the Slope I go. From there I am definitely hitting Midtown Comics and Forbidden Planet and if time should permit, maybe St. Mark’s Comics in Industry City.
Now I should point this out for the newbies to FCBD and say that this only applies to any of the titles that were specifically designated to be free today. Way back in November, I shared the full rundown for “Free Comic Book Day 2025” and you can peruse the list by clicking the hyperlinked text. Each LCS has their own rules on FCBD with limits per customer and some hand you a pre-packed bag which leaves what you are getting as a surprise. I also should encourage that you bring a little spending money along as well to help support your local shop because while FCBD is free for you and I it is not free for the retailer. My plan is to get some supplies like bags and boards since I can always use those for the stuff I get on the regular. Since I have to get a move on I will wrap up now and ask before I go will you and yours be hitting any of the local comic book stores to enjoy this fun day.
