I didn’t rush to share this one with the readership because the only release information that was unveiled was “the Fall” so I felt I could address other posts and get around to this when I could. So here we are with another CW Seed web episode offering and this one is called “Freedom Fighters: The Ray”. Much like the previous superhero webisodes around “Vixen”, “FFTR” takes place as a part of the Arrowverse in some sense. Check out the trailer below and then enjoy some of the revealed voice casting.
The Premise: Raymond “Ray” Terrill is a reporter who discovers a genetic light bomb in his investigation of a secret government project attempting to harness the power of light and weaponize it. The bomb goes off, and instead of killing him, gives him light-based powers, and he is recruited to join the Freedom Fighters.
The Cast/Characters:
Russell Tovey as Ray Terrill/The Ray
Stephen Amell as Dark Arrow Arrow a member of the New Reischmen
Grant Gustin as Dark Flash a member of the New Reischmen
Melissa Benoist as Overgirl a member of the New Reischmen
Uncle Sam: A member of the Freedom Fighters
Black Condor: A member of the Freedom Fighters
Human Bomb: A member of the Freedom Fighters
Phantom Lady: A member of the Freedom Fighters
Red Tornado: A member of the Freedom Fighters

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I loved this one and was a fan of the original “Freedom Fighters” comic book and still have the entire brief run in one of my comic book boxes somewhere. I even enjoyed “The Ray” solo title when it was brought back a decade or so ago. Its a good character and this series looks to be action packed. Now since I am not sure if you have watched the webisodes for “Vixen” yet I will say that this is going to follow the same premise and be short clips that all connect together like the old serials. Frankly speaking, I really would have preferred a solid thirty minute special since that keeps the visitor on the website for a decent time as opposed to the ones who watch an episode and then get caught up in life and forget to return. I am thinking that we will also get The Ray in the live-action Arrowverse at some point since we did get Vixen on the shows after her animated incarnation and that is fine by me. What did you readers think of this trailer? Let me know down in the comments section below.
