The results are in and below please find the 2018 Inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I’ve followed the visual below with a reminder of the criteria and more. Take a look.

The Criteria: Currently, groups or individuals are qualified for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Nominees should have demonstrable influence and significance within the history of rock and roll. Four categories are recognized: Performers, Non-Performers, Early Influences, and Sidemen (as of 2000). Fans never had any input but in 2012 they were given the chance to vote for the nominees they’d like to see inducted into the Rock Hall. The top five vote-getters in the public poll form one ballot, which is weighted the same as the rest of the submitted ballots.

2018 Fan Vote Winners: Bon-Jovi, Dire Straits, The Cars, Moody Blues and Judas Priest

The 2018 Inductees To The Rock and Roll Hall Are: Bon Jovi, The Cars, Dire Straits, The Moody Blues, Nina Simone, Sister Rosetta Tharpe. I’ve added some thoughts to each of them.

Bon Jovi: I’ve a strong appreciation for the earliest Bon Jovi albums and think that they have withstood the tests of time. Clearly a deserved induction and a thumbs up for New Jersey. To me, Jon was always the Springsteen for the younger generation based on how his songs flowed.

The Cars: Loved The Cars so much while growing up and really glad to see them inducted. It’s been deserved for years now so its about time. They’ve recently re-issued some of the bands earliest works and I need to get my hands on copies of those.

Dire Straits: My education on the band is light to say the least. Sure I know the “hits” but who doesn’t thanks to the old MTV days.

The Moody Blues: With the 50th Anniversary of their “Days Of Future Passed” album being this past November, their induction is a long overdue honor.

Nina Simone: Sadly, I never followed any of the musical contributions of Nina Simone. Congratulations on her posthumous induction.

Sister Rosetta Tharpe: Sadly, I never followed any of the musical contributions of Sister Rosetta and given who she influenced I should really get some research doing. Congratulations on her posthumous induction.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’d have to say that I am pretty happy with this list despite the fact that Judas Priest didn’t make it in this year. Maybe next year the Metal Legions can make their voices loud and rally behind both them and Iron Maiden. Make it a double shot. What do you think of the inductees this year? Speak up down in the comments below as usual. It’s always great to hear from you folks.
