Now Streaming: “Bright” on Netflix (12/22/2017)

Hopefully you’ve heard a little about this film already as it’s been addressed a few times in our topical posts that showcase trailers for this kind of thing but if its news to you for some reason, its a Netflix Original film called “Bright” and it stars Will Smith. It’s available for streaming on the service as you read this and below you will find its official poster along with some premise and the casting. As usual I’ve closed out the topic with some editorial. Take a look.

The Premise: In an alternate present where humans and fantasy creatures—Orcs, Fairies, Elves, Centaurs, etc.—have co-existed since the beginning of time, human LAPD officer Daryl Ward (Will Smith) and Orc Deputy Nick Jakoby (Joel Edgerton) embark on a routine patrol night, only to discover an ancient—but powerful—artifact: a magic wand, that was thought to be destroyed, and encounter a darkness that will ultimately alter the future and their world as they know it. PiercingMetal Thoughts: I was a fan of the show “Grimm” when it started but lost track so early that I didn’t end up keeping up to speed and as a diehard for quality and quirky action and Science Fiction/Fantasy films think this might be a sleeper hit. I think that I actually said how it reminded me of “Bad Boys” meets “Hellboy” in one of my trailer post narratives. That said I will definitely be perusing the Netflix Service when I sit down to relax after the upcoming holidays. There is no rush for me since I have so many other things to attend to before the year turns over. Have you seen any of the trailers for this? I’m sharing what appears to be the third and final trailer for the upcoming Netflix Original film “Bright” which stars Will Smith and many others as a police officer living in a realm where Sword and Sorcery characters walk among us. The film becomes available for streaming in ten days on 12/22, take a look.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I have to say that this didn’t look bad at all and reminded me a little bit of Smith’s “Bad Boys” along with the “Hellboy” film. I’ve been loving the geek stuff that Netflix has been offering up in terms of the Marvel shows and this looks like it might keep fans interested for however long it is. PiercingMetal Sees “Suicide Squad” @ Alpine Cinemas

Hey there readers so “Suicide Squad” opened just over two weeks ago at the time of this writing and since I am aiming at doing a lot more movie reviews when they are still in theaters here we are. I usually hit these films with our stalwart media companion Skeleton Pete but he couldn’t join me this time around. With this film, I decided to keep it local and went to the Alpine Theater in my own Bay Ridge neighborhood which was a better idea since the price of my ticket and some snacks were about the same as the ticket only at the Manhattan theater. Let’s go to the movies.

For those who are in the unaware, “Suicide Squad” is the third film in the currently being built DC Extended Universe. This began with “Man Of Steel” and continued into “Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice” which was released earlier this year and since that last one was received with a very mixed and negative opinion, one could only cross their fingers about this one and to briefly recap its premise, here is what the Wiki had to say about the film’s bottom line.
