Greetings Legions, I just wanted to take a moment out of the usual publishing regimen to share some cool news with you. You might recall my mention of having created a unified web-presence for my creative work with the Ken Pierce Media branding and I am happy to let you know that this angle is now one year old. I discussed some of what’s happened and what is to come in a blog post that you can find HERE and I think you will find it interesting. This is also the very first time that I have celebrated a first anniversary for the family of websites.
I just wanted to take a moment of your time and let our readers know that the PiercingMetal Contests have reached a bit of a milestone of their own and can proudly share that we have given away over 1,000 tickets since beginning to do so in the summer of 2009. I’ve actually been meaning to share this but of information with you all for a few weeks but there was more important writing and photos to get online first before getting to this one. As result of the delay I should have simply cited that I had doled out “1,100” tickets but oh well.
It’s with great pleasure that I present to you a brand new shiny part of the PiercingMetal Musings Blog with the “PiercingMetal Contests” Category and I’ll admit right now that I’m super excited about this because it works for the fans and the website on a number of different levels. Now the contest stuff is nothing new as I’ve been doing a number of concert ticket giveaways via our Official Facebook Page for the site since around 2009 for the B.B. King’s and Highline Ballroom venues. To make it even better, the folks over at Livenation started giving us a number of shows to offer our readers earlier in 2012 and I have greatly enjoyed working with their people and there have been a couple of instances where the Excess DB Entertainment group has tossed their hat into the mix – Whew. If you have not been following this stuff already just take a look at the list of coolness that we have given away so far….

I know, I know……what is he going on about now you might be saying, and just what the heck is the story behind the logo below these words. Well, the answer is on the simple side my friends and I was just being a little bit grandiose with the announcement when it all came down to it. Last year I attended the NY Comic Con as a member of the accredited press and it was a blast to do it and share the findings and photos with the readers of the PiercingMetal Blog. I had also reviewed one of the Metal related comics that came out from Terminal Press a few months earlier and this all got me to brainstorming a little more – What about a focus on Comics from time to time? Yes!!! I exclaimed and a quick call was placed to our own Joe Kaufman who fashioned this little bit of coolness for me as I introduce my readers to PIERCINGCOMICS (insert thunderclap here)…..

Perhaps I should explain what I am talking about. For many, many years I was a comic book collector and as result have several thousand of them in various locations of the city and even some in our illustrious PiercingMetal Command HQ. I’ve freely admitted that I have been close to a lifelong fan of the adventures of Batman, Spider-Man, X-Men, Hulk, Green Lantern, The Avengers and at this point far too many others to even list. My appreciation of the medium led me to give an overview on a comic book that featured Norway’s own Dimmu Borgir called “Dimmu Borgir: The Dark Fortress” and only last month I attended the NY Comic Con for 2010 as a member of the accredited press. This was my first comic convention in years and it was super exciting to be able to present my findings to the fans of my website and blog. I’ll be hitting similar events going forward using the “Convention Adventures” category. So without any further adieu I would like to announce the beginning of the “Comic Booking It” category here on the PiercingMetal Musings Blog. Queue dramatic music and stop 🙂
