I’ve been enjoying the DC Animated features for a few years now and quite honestly I think I like them a lot more than the actual big screen live-action films for the most part. For me they are better extensions of the comic book page and with that please allow me to share the latest film being offered up “Justice League Dark”. I’ve got some additional thoughts at the close as well so dig in.

About The Film: Justice League Dark is an upcoming 2017 American animated superhero film produced by Warner Bros. Animation and distributed by Warner Home Video. Featuring the DC Comics team of the same name created by Peter Milligan and Mikel Janin, the film will be the twenty-seventh film in the DC Universe Animated Original Movies series. It is set to be released digitally on January 24, 2017 and on DVD and Blu-ray on February 7, 2017. The film is directed by Jay Oliva, and stars the voices of Matt Ryan, Jason O’Mara, Camilla Luddington, Nicholas Turturro, and Ray Chase. It will be the first Justice League film and the second DC Universe animated film to receive an R rating from the MPAA.

PiercingMetal Thoughts:
In my contest piece I said how much I loved the show and for a number of years as a child I wanted to be Batman. I’m kind of at that head space again as an adult but don’t worry I barely have the finances for such an endeavor LOL – It’s great that we have Adam West and Burt Ward to do another film of this kind even if its animated because these DC Comics animated features are fantastic. They’re miles ahead of the live action films and bring us a lot of awesome storylines. So are you readers fans of this stuff? Will you be trying to see this in the theaters with the rest of us? I am considering going tonight myself so you should as well. It’s opening at a number of theaters in the city so I want to take advantage of it while I can. Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below.

When and Where: Monday, October 10th 7:30pm @ AMC Empire 25 (New York, NY)

To Participate: I grew up on the classic Batman television series and remember it fondly. Even as an adult the show remains special to me and I am absolutely stoked to offer up this contest to our readers and fans of the show right after the always incredible NY Comic Con. Those folks at Fathom Events are really dishing out some awesome IMHO. Here’s what you can do for me with this one. Name your three very favorite episodes of the original show and what about them made it special. That should be easy enough and if you are just one of the curious give me three solid things about the Batman mythology that keep you interested as a fan. They have to be good of course since one or two words are not going to do it at all. Read the guidelines below and then head on over to the Batcave. The Batcomputer needs you aware of these specs below.

– Enter only enter once. All comments are moderated and will not appear immediately after your submission until staff can review them.
– Number them for ease of knowing if you followed the instructions or not if I’ve asked for a list of items.
– Please enter your full real name in the comment form along with an email address that you can be reached at if you win. This is necessary to process your ticket and I cannot stress it enough. Please do NOT put this information in the comment itself out of privacy concerns. Winners are entered into a system by PiercingMetal Moderators, so the email must be a valid and regularly checked one.
– As this is a special advance screening that means only a few tickets are here to use so please only enter if you can and will attend the screening should you win and it’s logistically possible for you to do so. Essentially if you live a couple of hundred miles away we don’t think you’re coming here for a show in NYC.
– Subscribe to the comments on the contest post and check back to see the responses so you know if you won or not. I am very quick to choose once a few have come in.
– Make sure you are entering a NEW comment and not replying to another contestant’s entry as that makes notifying you all the more difficult should you be marked as a winner.
– Monitor your email once you have been marked as a winner for notes from Fathom Events or PiercingMetal.com – I will not be able to re-enter into the system once its done the first time.

Bring it on as this one will close by noon on the day of the screening or when my allotment has been depleted. Whichever comes first.

Out Now: “Scooby-Doo! and KISS: Rock and Roll Mystery”

A few years ago, the band KISS crossed from their own comic book series into the world of Archie Comics for a four-issue series that took place in their famous Riverdale. Now they are doing it one more time but its not going to be a comic series and instead is an animated feature film that brings them right into an exciting and fun mystery that is being investigated by the Scooby-Doo characters. The film is called “Scooby-Doo! and KISS: Rock and Roll Mystery” and its being released today. Check it out.

Bluray - Scooby Doo and KISS - 2015

The Plot:
Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo are traveling to an amusement park called Kiss World to see Kiss at their big Halloween concert and solve a mystery, mostly because Daphne has a crush on Starchild (Paul Stanley), much to Fred’s jealousy.

The Cast:
Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo, Fred Jones
Matthew Lillard as Shaggy Rogers
Grey Griffin as Daphne Blake
Mindy Cohn as Velma Dinkley
Gene Simmons as The Demon
Paul Stanley as The Starchild
Eric Singer as The Catman
Tommy Thayer as The Spaceman
Jennifer Carpenter as Chikara
Garry Marshall as Manny Goldman
Penny Marshall as The Elder
Doc McGhee as Chip McGhoo
Jason Mewes as Worker #1
Pauley Perrette as Delilah Domino, The Crimson Witch
Rachel Ramras as Shandi Strutter
Darius Rucker as The Destroyer
Kevin Smith as Worker #2
Tony Cervone as Announcer

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Readers of the website already know about my appreciation about anything relating to the band KISS but they might not know about my fond memories of the classic “Scooby-Doo” cartoons of old. It still brings a smile and some of my favorite episodes of the original series found them teamed up with the likes of the 1966 Batman and Robin (voiced by the legendary Adam West and Burt Ward) and the Harlem Globetrotters. Such memories. Finding the Mystery Team meeting those Rock Superheroes in KISS in today’s media world is just something that makes me feel like a kid again. Much like those original team-ups, KISS will be doing their own voices and that is pretty cool. Since we live in a world where you can always use a laugh I’m really looking forward to this one. What do you readers think about the idea of this direct to video release? Let me know in the comments section below.

I’ve embedded links to both versions of the video along with two collected editions of the currently running “Scooby-Doo Team-Up” series that is published by DC Comics. Fun stuff.
