Dig It; Deadpool Makes The Cover Of “Good Housekeeping”

Here now is an item from our absolutely weird and ridiculous file. It seems as though “The Merc with a Mouth” Deadpool is gracing the Holiday Special issue of the Good Housekeeping magazine.  I found myself a copy in the local comic book store and made sure to snap it up to make sure that I wasn’t imagining things.  Now since I know that everyone will NOT be able to find this interesting little oddity, I’ve embedded some links down below along with the Editorial Viewpoint from the magazine about this historic appearance.  Scroll on down below to see it all.

From The GH Editor In Chief Desk: “Deadpool’s persistence to be in Good Housekeeping was impressive — initially we had no idea who he was, let alone that he was a fan of the magazine. But after repeated attempts to ignore his… passion… we came to a compromise. He could appear in one issue, if he promised to stop leaving care packages at our editors’ homes and agreed to maintain a 50-foot distance from the Good Housekeeping offices and our staff.”

20th Century Fox Presents: “Deadpool 2” Teaser Trailer (2018)

Actor Ryan Reynolds recently posted to his Official YouTube Channel what amounts to a bit of a teaser trailer for his second Deadpool film in a short clip called “No Good Dead”. Take a look at this one down below.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: So we all knew that Deadpool was going to get a sequel based on the box office response that it got and this clip is a clever play on the superhero quick change to jump into action. In Deadpools case its clearly a not so quick change. Now I don’t usually speak on the teasers since I feel its better to wait for a longer and more comprehensive clip from the film but with this one I don’t exactly think it is going to be in the film. I loved the use of the phone booth and the John Williams score for The Big Red S from their Distinguished Competition in publishing and if you look at the graffiti on the phone booth it says “Nathan Summers Is Cumming Soon” and we all know that Summers is Cable in the comics series. We see the great Stan Lee and a billboard for the movie “Logan”. Fun stuff. What did you think of this one? Let me know down in the comments below. Also, if you have little background in Deadpool as a character there is a link to purchase the film on Blu-ray and a couple of trade paperback editions from Marvel Comics. It’s time for you to get with the program.

PiercingMetal Sees “Deadpool” @ Regal Union Square Stadium 14

I’m figuring that with the film having been released for over a week to the general masses that all of the absolute comic book film diehards have gotten to see “Deadpool”. I caught this a couple of days ago with my good friend Skeleton Pete and I wanted to offer up some quick insight about the film but nothing that is going to be a spoiler for anyone. At least I don’t think that there will be anything spoiled. We saw it over at the Regal Union Square Stadium on 13th Street which is a usual haunt for us to see the adventure films. While we went super early, there is NO matinee price to speak of at this theater. Here we go.

For starters, I should stress that “Deadpool” is NOT a part of the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe (referred to from now on as “MCU” for the sake of typing) and is instead considered among the “X-Men” film universe that is maintained by 20th Century Fox. Some people might not know who Deadpool even is or what this film entails so here is a repeat of the film premise that was culled from its Wikipedia page just before release.

Opening: “Deadpool” (2/12/2016)

Ever since his first appearance in “New Mutants” #98 back in 1991 he’s been the Merc with a Mouth and now it seems as though Deadpool is going to be known as the Merc with a Movie as the film in which he stars opens up today in theaters everywhere. Check out the poster, premise and cast below.

Poster - Deadpool - 2016

The Premise:
In an effort to cure his cancer, former special forces operative Wade Wilson was subjected to an experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, disfigured skin, an unstable mind and a “dark, twisted” sense of humor. Armed with new abilities and a new identity, Wilson hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life. (thanks Wiki)

The Cast:
Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool
Morena Baccarin as Vanessa
Ed Skrein as Francis/Ajax
T. J. Miller as Weasel
Gina Carano as Angel Dust
Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead
Stefan Kapičić as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus
Leslie Uggams as Blind Al
Jed Rees as The Recruiter
Marvel Comics co-creator Stan Lee will have a cameo appearance as a strip club MC
Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld will also make a cameo appearance

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Even thought this film takes place outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since its connected to the X-Men franchise license that Fox currently holds, I am super excited for this one since it looks like the got him 100% correct. If you’ve seen the trailers you can tell that Deadpool is a complete and utter a$$hole in them when it comes to his adversaries and even his friends and that is pretty much how he is in the comics that he helps move off the shelves month after month. Speaking of Deadpool in comics, last month Marvel Comics celebrated the character by offering fans 10 different titles starring him for $1 apiece. You can peruse what they were in case you missed that post by clicking HERE but you might have to shop around a little bit for them since the releases ended in the last week of January. I’m debating on whether or not to see this on opening day or not because I have Toy Fair this coming weekend and that is going to keep me busy for a few days. What do you readers think? Will you be catching this film on the big screen or waiting for it to hit HBO or a Blu-ray disc release? Let me know in the comments section and oh before I completely close up on this posting, attention Parents “DO NOT BRING YOUR LITTLE ONES TO SEE DEADPOOL”!!!!. This film is rated “R” for a reason and the dialogue is not meant for the younger set. The last thing we need is people decrying it so much that we never see a sequel. That’s it, carry on with the rest of your day now.
