The promoters of Wacken Open Air, the world’s largest heavy metal festival, have announced today that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the edition planned for the end of July will not be able to take place as scheduled. The 31st edition of the cult festival will therefore take place in August 2022, from 04.08. to 06.08.

“We bleed our hearts! All visitors, musicians and the entire crew have put all their hopes on being able to celebrate together again in Wacken already this year in July, but we have no other choice but to wait a little longer. As reported in a press statement by the organizers (discussed HERE), the 2021 edition of the famed Wacken Open Air Festival will not be able to take place based on the continued complications and restrictions from the Coronavirus Pandemic. All questions about your plans and purchases should be directed to the Wacken representatives post haste.
Hopes are high for the return of the Wacken Open Air Festival after being forced to cancel last year based on the dreaded Coronavirus and this years lineup is sure to be an exciting one. Though we are stateside, we love to list the major festivals and what is more notable for Heavy Metal fans than the Wacken Open Air Festival which will take place in the Village Of Wacken over the next three days. If you are heading there we really don’t hate you even if we say that we do ;p

All 75,000 tickets for W:O:A 2021, which will take place from July 29 to 31 2021, have already been sold! The organizers have now announced the first bands on the festival line-up! Metal fans can look forward to: Judas Priest, Hämatom, Dropkick Murphys, As I Lay Dying, Rose Tattoo, Tarja, Lordi, Death SS, Venom and Moonspell.
This years Wacken Open Air couldn‘t take place due to the current pandemic. Although it’s much more quiet in the small village Wacken in Schleswig-Holstein, the tradition announcing bands for the upcoming edition during the last festival day still remains!
