Hold onto your hats Chicago because The Original Misfits are coming back to visit you and will likely leave a whole lot of chaos in their wake. Sadly, I didn’t see any sort of press copy that lines out and extols the colorful history of the group and only received the poster below in my email. Since this is a one night only experience, I am thinking that it speaks volumes just the same. Do you agree?
PiercingMetal Thoughts: Having recently caught this show at Newark’s Prudential Center, I’ve gotta say that you are going to want to get yourself out to this if you live in the region and can do so. Hearing these songs done by their original creators once again teamed up was fantastic for me, and of course my show also featured guitarist Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein with compliments from Acey Slade (guitar) and Dave Lombardo (drums). I’m not sure why Doyle isn’t mentioned on this poster but perhaps he is being held back as a big surprise reveal. I would hate that fans of the classic lineup would miss out on him if he had other touring commitments at the time of this show but let’s see what happens. The openers for this performance are also strong with the legendary Punk group Fear and Venom Inc. and Power Trip. It’s the kind of show that you are going to want to arrive for nice and early to enjoy all of the bands. Oh and before I go, let me point out that considering how the last few shows were, this one is very likely also going to be a no-phone show which means you must secure your mobile device in a sealed pouch or leave it locked in your car hidden from prying eyes. That’s all I have on this one, what do you think about the news? Are you excited? Or could you care less? Chime in down below.
The Details: In today’s Metal world there are a lot of bands that play the same music with different members. Over the last few years we had two Great Whites, two L.A. Guns and even two Queensyrches for a while and now there are two groups playing the legendary sounds of the band Venom. This one is probably the most interesting of the recent crop because it features two original members and other members who served in the band when other folks moved onto different projects. I am speaking of the rising in prominence Venom Inc. who will deliver not only the bands classics but also some new throttling Metal as well. They are bringing this “Bloodstained Earth” tour to NYC and its sure to be a deadly time and when you add to the fact that the tour also features Goatwhore and Toxic Holocaust there is no other place in the city that you are going to want to be. Thanks to the fine folks in Marketing, we are putting a couple of diehard fans into the show for free and that excites me greatly. That lets you have more money for merchandise which is never a bad thing. Check out the details on how to participate.
When and Where: Saturday, September 2nd @ Gramercy Theatre (127 East 23rd St., NYC)
To Participate: I’ve decided to keep this an easy one and by saying that I mean I will be sticking to my usual formula of you readers giving me “3” things that you like most about the band if you have heard them already and if you are a newbie just give me “3” things that you are most interested in about their performance. Perhaps there are albums that “spoke” to you or concert appearances that sent you to the music shop to snag some of the band members earlier works. Just give me three solid answers and how important it is to be at this show. I know I make you work but I work here too so whining will not win out at all LOL. Make this good reading because the stuff remains on the website and can likely inspire new fans as well on how our freebies work. Writing “because they slay dude” is just too un-original and boring. I’ll be responding to the comments that I like most right below their answer. Kindly review some guidelines before entering your submission. We don’t have a lot of tickets for this one so you better make it good. By the way, we know Venom Inc. is a “new” band so album references would be to their new work or Venom classics that the members appeared on. Just a quick bit of label signing stuff coming at you all. This news broke the other day but I had a plethora of posts in line to do so this had to wait until now. I hope that you don’t mind and here now the latest news from the camp of the Venom Inc. Dig in to the full press that I was sent.
The Press Release:
Metal Legends VENOM INC Sign with Nuclear Blast Records and Breaking Bands LLC VENOM INC is Jeff “Mantas” Dunn, Anthony “Abaddon” Bray and Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan. Performing Select Festivals in 2017 – Hammerfest, Inferno Fest & More
In mid-2015, former Venom member Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan, together with original members Jeff “Mantas” Dunn and Tony “Abaddon” Bray, formed a second incarnation of Britain’s seminal black metal band. After coming together under the flag VENOM INC, history began to write itself once again. Now, after proving their lasting prowess on the road and at festivals internationally throughout the past year, the band is pleased to announce their signing with premier international heavy metal label Nuclear Blast Records. The band is scheduled to release a new album this year – more details coming soon!
Nuclear Blast A&R Manager Jaap Wagemaker states, “Nuclear Blast is very stoked to welcome Mantas, Abaddon and the Demolition Man as new members of the Nuclear Family! We grew up with the first three albums that Mantas and Abaddon recorded and made them legendary, and that led the foundations to black metal! I’ve also been a big fan of Atomkraft with the Demolition Man as well! I’ve already had the pleasure of working with Mantas and Abaddon early 90’s when there was a tribute released, In The Name Of Satan, and when they did the reunion show at Dynamo Open Air! A couple of years ago I saw them perform with VENOM INC – their first ever concert at Keep it True and ever since then the band have proven to be road warriors and have played around the globe answering to the calls of their legions! This year I received the first demos and they proved that they are still built of iron and steel and that they have returned at full force! The band is ready to write another chapter to their legendary status! It is with great pride that we welcome VENOM INC to Nuclear Blast!” Continue reading Metal Legends VENOM INC Sign with Nuclear Blast Records and Breaking Bands LLC→
When I was getting myself into the Heavy Metal sound more and more I have to admit that I didn’t really follow the music of Venom at all. It took quite a few years for me as a listener to the sonic sounds that wreck our eardrums to better appreciate their influence. A few months ago I caught the band Venom Inc. which is essentially Venom without Cronos and it was great. Now the band is heading back with a second leg for their tour and the poster, press release and dates are below for your consumption.
The Press Release:
UK-based metallers, VENOM INC., will kick off the second leg of their North American tour next month. The latest march will run from May 31st in Brooklyn, New York through July 2nd in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Support will again be provided by long-running American death metal behemoths Necrophagia. The trek follows the band’s recent and successful stomp through North America this past January.
VENOM INC. features original Venom members guitarist Jeff “Mantas” Dunn and drummer Anthony “Abaddon” Bray with former Venom bassist/vocalist Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan. The band made their live debut as VENOM INC. in April 2015 at the Keep It True Festival in Lauda-Königshofen, Germany, performing a full set of Venom classics and played to over 30,000 people at Heavy Montreal last August. Dolan and Dunn have spent the last few years collaborating in M:Pire Of Evil, who released their latest full-length, Crucified, in May 2013. VENOM INC. took to the streets early last Fall on the lengthy Iron And Steel European Tour before closing the year with a Latin American live infiltration. The band returned to the streets of North America last January to the frenzied praise and fans and critics alike. Continue reading Venom Inc. Announce 2nd Leg Of North American Tour→
