The VampireFreaks Social Networking Site Has Ended (1999-2020)

Back in September, I helped share the news that the Goth Subculture website VampireFreaks.com would be facing an inevitable sunset (discussed HERE). Today, that dawn has come and the popular social network has ended. Below the grim graphic you can find the official statement from management.

The Statement:
The Vampirefreaks Social Network is officially laid to rest.
We had an amazing 20+ year run and I’ll be forever grateful for the experience. To the many people who have reached out to us and expressed their gratitude and shared their VF stories – it really means a lot.

I’ll always remember the VF social network as a community for freaks and outcasts to be themselves and support eachother and being weirdos together. These past few days have been really emotional and i’ve shed quite a few tears about it. It’s been so great seeing everyone come together the final days for one last hurrah. VF touched so many people’s lives and I know I can’t take credit what it became, it was an accumulation of all the members worldwide who made this place their home.

VampireFreaks Social Network To Sunset In 2020

The VampireFreaks Social Network is shutting down in February 2020. We first saw this news being circulated on a couple of our friends Facebook Feeds and instead of quoting one of the other websites that are out there, we went right to the Official Facebook for VampireFreaks and got directed to a statement on the social networks ending from founder Jet Berelson himself. Read on down below the logo.

The Statement:
I’ve been running VampireFreaks for 20 years now and it’s been a great experience. So many ups and downs, and the website has brought so many people together. It’s been a lot of work, but hearing stories about people finding their spouses/loved ones on VF has always made it worthwhile.

VampireFreaks has always been a labor of love. Recently, running the VF social network just hasn’t been enjoyable for me anymore.

I’ve always taken pride in being part of a community of weirdos and freaks that can relate to each other and be supportive of each other. To be honest, it’s just lost its magic to me. The internet isn’t the same place it was 15-20 years ago and I’m not the same person I was either. I’d like to have our website be remembered as being a great inclusive community. I just don’t want to live my life online anymore, I like having my privacy.

So I’ve decided to take down the VampireFreaks social network starting on February 1st 2020. This gives everyone over 6 months notice. We will be cancelling any subscriptions once the site is taken down. Effective immediately we are not allowing any new account creation.

VampireFreaks.com Presents “Triton Fest 2013”

This is just a quick brief to showcase a little information about this years Triton Festival which is a Gothic and Industrial Music event being put out there by the creeptastic folks who go bump in the night – VampireFreaks.com – As many of my PiercingMetal readers enjoy the Industrial side of life almost as much (or even more so in some cases) than their Traditional Metal stuff I wanted to be sure to get this on your radar.

The event shall be held in NYC and for three days in September (5th, 6th, and 7th respectively), the assembled hordes of the VampireFreaks.com shall take over not one but two great venues. Yep. This event is going to be so massive that it will start at The Gramercy Theatre on Thursday and continue its second two nights over at Irving Plaza and bring its denizens darkly to its resounding finale. There are a score of bands performing across the three days and also plenty of DJ sets to keep you busy between the changeovers. The bands seem to keep getting added every time I hit the page. All of their page links and a little more about them can be observed on the Official Festival link below. Rather than duplicate their efforts I figured it best to just send you over there. The main site page is also the best place to get your hands on some tickets. It’s too early to know if I will be braving the Industrial storm at any point but if I do I shall surely share my findings with you on the site and blogs.

PiercingMetal Goes To New York Comic Con 2012: Day 2; Part 1

I have to admit that I was raring to go for the second day session of NY Comic Con and perhaps it was partially based on the dose of Music Scribe energy that was infused into me by seeing two amazing KISS appearances and the fact that the first day is not a super long one anyway. Yet here I was heading down to the Javits and talking to those around me as we plotted and planned for the adventure. My plan would be for some serious exploration today and get a lot out of the way since the Saturday session is always mayhem, and as I wandered closer, I met a charming Elektra Cosplayer. Nice girl who did a fine job on her outfit and even had a pair of Sai with her. My other plan was to get a lot of Instagram shots today and if I did not mention I was doing this in yesterdays summation I apologize. Let’s get rocking.
