PiercingMetal Thoughts: I still remember when my friend Rebel of a local Metal radio show called “Metal In Your Face” gave me the very first Tool EP “Opiate” back when it was released about one thousand years ago. I played it to death back then and even shared it with a lot of my friends who at the time instead chose to stick with their Metallica, Slayer, Black Sabbath or the myriad pile of Grunge bands that were coming down the pike. I remember wondering how such a unique band would ever be able to make it with such a response to this discovery. Obviously they’ve done quite well since that time and while I moved more into the casual fan space since then I would love to be on point as a media scribe at long last so let’s see if more dates get added since I will not be hitting Governor’s Ball. What do you Tooliacs think of this one? Does this tour find your blood racing through your veins faster than ever? Let me know in the comments section below.

Tool Among Headliners For Governor’s Ball 2017

Hey there fiends, the full lineup of the 2017 Governor’s Ball has been revealed on the poster below so check it out if you have interest in the massive music event that is taking place this summer.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: As you can tell by the headline, Tool is going to be one of the main events for the festival and I know a lot of you are excited about that news. I don’t think that I will be in attendance since there is nothing else appealing to my own musical tastes outside of the Tool appearance. To each their own if this lineup is making you shake in your boots. Tickets go on sale on Friday according to what I have read so on your mark, get set……BUY! (when the time comes of course). I’ve never made it to this festival but wonder what you all think about it so let me know in the comments below.

“10,000 Days” by Tool

Artist: Tool
Title: “10,000 Days”
Label: Volcano Records
Release Date: 5/2/2006
Genre: Heavy Metal/Progressive
Rating: 7.5/10

The first thing about the long awaited Tool CD that grabbed my attention was the packaging. Yes, that’s right I said the packaging. Ok, I know it is about the music, but true to form Tool once again has some top notch package design going on courtesy of Adam Jones. Just like the vinyl albums of the past with intricate record jackets – the 10,000 Days CD gives you the complete experience of opening up the disk and going…? WTF, Oh Cool! It’s much more than the music with Tool as it’s a nice introduction to the band and something to set the mood. You don’t get this vibe from downloading MP3s. The case has two lenses in a folded flap which magnify the eyes of a Tribal tri-face illustration. Then when you open it up there are pages of double images that can be viewed through these lenses. Basically the CD case folds out to become a Stereoscope, on which 3D images can be viewed. Flip the pages and the fun begins as you browse through a series of 3D illustrations, band member photos, and some strange stuff typical of Tool which can be stared at after or while the music plays. Where’s the bong?
