Hey there my friends, I am here once again to share some music awards winners rundown from the recently held Alternative Press Music Awards. I shared this information last year as longer tenured readers might recall and it doesn’t hurt for more to learn who is getting awards for the work that they do in music. Truth be told this kind of music awards show is more in tune with what we cover here on PiercingMetal than the Grammy Awards are so let’s get down to business. I’ve left the nominees in the list as well so you can see who the winners beat out.

There is a whole lot of buzz surrounding Captain Marvel these days because not only is she rising in prominence on the printed pages but she will have her own film in the coming years and be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well. This is pretty cool on its own but now in celebration of her brand-new series, Marvel Comics is partnering up with some incredible music acts to showcase each issue. The first one features The Pretty Reckless who we have caught a couple of times over the years and you can learn about the whole thing in the press release below. Dig in.
The Press Release:
Revolutionary Marvel Spotlight Video Series Boldly Expands Exposure of Marvel’s Captain Marvel Paired with some of Today’s Top Female-led Musical Acts
Marvel Comics is proud to present an unprecedented approach in introducing the world to Marvel Comics and the next great breakout Marvel Super Hero – Captain Marvel! Masterfully mixing animated comics with in-depth narration and commentary, this fresh new video series is designed to present a whole new audience to the world of Carol Danvers, a.k.a., Captain Marvel, timed with the debut of her brand-new comic book series THE MIGHTY CAPTAIN MARVEL.
THE MIGHTY CAPTAIN MARVEL #1, written by New York Times best-selling author, Margaret Stohl (Black Widow: Forever Red, Black Widow: Red Vengeance), accompanied with outstanding art by Ramon Rosanas (The Astonishing Ant-Man), garnered international buzz and attention upon the announcement this past year. Marvel continues the excitement surrounding Marvel’s celebrated high-flying former Air Force pilot turned Super Hero, Captain Marvel, through a brand new Marvel music spotlight video series accompanied with the track “Wild City” from The Pretty Reckless. Watch “Captain Marvel: Alien Nation” Part One now!
“Everyone wishes they had superpowers,” said lead singer of The Pretty Reckless, Taylor Momsen. “I always wanted to be Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers). I even tried to look like her when I was a kid. Unfortunately, I don’t have Kree genetics so, the best alternative to being the most powerful female superhero, was to be a rock star. Now that our song is being combined with Captain Marvel, I’m as close as I can be in the real world.”
“Over the past couple of years, Captain Marvel has become the voice and champion for a whole new generation of Marvel fans,” said Director of Content Development, Sana Amanat. “Utilizing the power of Marvel’s Spotlight Music series, and headlined with The Pretty Reckless, we are so excited to introduce Carol Danvers to a brand new audience as the most powerful Marvel Super Hero of 2017 – the mighty Captain Marvel.”
Each month, a new “Captain Marvel: Alien Nation” video will be released with the latest issue of Marvel Comics’ THE MIGHTY CAPTAIN MARVEL. The “Captain Marvel: Alien Nation” videos will educate new and old fans about Stohl’s THE MIGHTY CAPTAIN MARVEL series through commentary from Stohl, motion graphics, as well as an energetic score from some of the world’s biggest female-led musical acts.
Narrated by writer, Margaret Stohl, with an energetic score from some of the world’s biggest female-led musical acts, beginning with The Pretty Reckless, “Captain Marvel: Alien Nation ” will introduce fans to the history of Carol Danvers and spotlight why she is the hero to watch moving forward.
PiercingMetal Thoughts: That was pretty cool wasn’t it? I don’t have much more to add so I will see you next time and when a new installment of this initiative comes to light I will be sure to add it. Pick up “Mighty Captain Marvel” when it hits your local comic book store and don’t forget to support The Pretty Reckless if they come around to a venue near you.
If there is one thing that I love sharing here on the blog, its a touring run because there is really no better way to see what a band is all about than on the live concert stage. With that said, let’s get to the recently released information from the people behind the scenes of The Pretty Reckless. I’ll return at the close.
