The Scoop: So I didn’t get any kind of “official press release” about this and had to cull the dates from some of those providers that had and with this being the case, the introduction copy is off the top of my head. As you can see below, the band Ghost will be heading out on what amounts to be a a couple of months tour under the banner “Haze Over North America”. It’s likely a call to their revealed single “Secular Haze” which we reviewed not long ago on a link you can find HERE. The groups upcoming album is called “Infestissumam” (which I have no idea what that means) and they are no longer fronted by Papa Emeritus I. He was replaced in a live concert ceremony by Papa Emeritus II. Interesting stuff right? I like to think so. Anyway, here are the run of dates. Are you invading a venue near you? Get those calendars out.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: So I still haven’t caught Ghost in concert and am saddened at the notion that I missed out on seeing the glory that must have been Papa Emeritus I while he reigned over the masses in sinister form delivering sermons found on “Opus Eponymous” but what can you do, the only constant is change as my father always says. That being said, I love what I’ve heard Papa II doing and I feel that the group is in good hands for the future and beyond. The dates show them in my Metal Metropolis close to the time of my own birthday (not the websites) so I am going to try to be on point and offering up a story for you all to be there with us. What do you folks think about this tour news? Are you already supporting the group? Fill us in on what is to be expected since you know more than I do at the moment. Thanks for listening.

“Secular Haze” (Single) by Ghost

Artist: Ghost
Title: “Secular Haze” (Single)
Label: Loma Vista Recordings
Release Date: 2/18/2013
Genre: Doom Metal
Rating:

The masked and mysterious band Ghost who we last heard from with their awesome “Opus Eponymous” debut album are preparing to release their latest bit of work upon the masses and have unveiled this new single “Secular Haze” back in December. The song was at first available for free and is now available for immediate digital download for a modest sum. Since that last time around some changes have some to pass with the first and most prominent being the newly installed Papa Emeritus II who replaced Papa I in a live concert ceremony. The second is that they are now going by “Ghost B.C.” here in the USA for legal reasons. It’s a clear play on the “Before Christ” adage but the bands Nameless Ghouls stress this is silent. So about the track, it’s an interesting one with an almost carnival vibe to it based on the keyboards and I had to admit that Papa II sure does sound a lot like Papa I so the fans will not have issue adjusting to the new member.

“Opus Eponymous” by Ghost

Artist: Ghost
Title: “Opus Eponymous”
Label: Metal Blade Records
Release Date: 1/18/2011
Genre: Heavy Metal
Rating: 4/5

Okay so this band is something that I have heard rumblings about for a few months and just am a little late to the game in giving some scoped out thoughts on. They are called GHOST and are six masked and mysterious figures. The musicians are all wearing long robes and a single expressionless mask along with it. These masks are the same, unlike what we find going on in Slipknot. Their identities are secret and they are referred to as The Nameless Ghouls. Chilling, right? Well, you’d better hold that thought until you see their infernal leader, a garish sort named Papa Emeritus. His face is the only unique one and oh yeah, he wears the vestments of the Pope. It’s said that the band is from Sweden and this album first was released over there on Rise Above records but over here it’s on Metal Blade Records and is really something else. I’ll discuss a few key tracks and leave some surprises. The album is entitled “Opus Eponymous” which is Latin for “self-titled”.
