Revolutionary Marvel Spotlight Video Series Boldly Expands Exposure of Marvel’s Captain Marvel Paired with some of Today’s Top Female-led Musical Acts
Marvel Comics is proud to present an unprecedented approach in introducing the world to Marvel Comics and the next great breakout Marvel Super Hero – Captain Marvel! Masterfully mixing animated comics with in-depth narration and commentary, this fresh new video series is designed to present a whole new audience to the world of Carol Danvers, a.k.a., Captain Marvel, timed with the debut of her brand-new comic book series THE MIGHTY CAPTAIN MARVEL.
THE MIGHTY CAPTAIN MARVEL #1, written by New York Times best-selling author, Margaret Stohl (Black Widow: Forever Red, Black Widow: Red Vengeance), accompanied with outstanding art by Ramon Rosanas (The Astonishing Ant-Man), garnered international buzz and attention upon the announcement this past year. Marvel continues the excitement surrounding Marvel’s celebrated high-flying former Air Force pilot turned Super Hero, Captain Marvel, through a brand new Marvel music spotlight video series accompanied with the track “Wild City” from The Pretty Reckless. Watch “Captain Marvel: Alien Nation” Part One now!
“Everyone wishes they had superpowers,” said lead singer of The Pretty Reckless, Taylor Momsen. “I always wanted to be Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers). I even tried to look like her when I was a kid. Unfortunately, I don’t have Kree genetics so, the best alternative to being the most powerful female superhero, was to be a rock star. Now that our song is being combined with Captain Marvel, I’m as close as I can be in the real world.”
“Over the past couple of years, Captain Marvel has become the voice and champion for a whole new generation of Marvel fans,” said Director of Content Development, Sana Amanat. “Utilizing the power of Marvel’s Spotlight Music series, and headlined with The Pretty Reckless, we are so excited to introduce Carol Danvers to a brand new audience as the most powerful Marvel Super Hero of 2017 – the mighty Captain Marvel.”
Each month, a new “Captain Marvel: Alien Nation” video will be released with the latest issue of Marvel Comics’ THE MIGHTY CAPTAIN MARVEL. The “Captain Marvel: Alien Nation” videos will educate new and old fans about Stohl’s THE MIGHTY CAPTAIN MARVEL series through commentary from Stohl, motion graphics, as well as an energetic score from some of the world’s biggest female-led musical acts.
Narrated by writer, Margaret Stohl, with an energetic score from some of the world’s biggest female-led musical acts, beginning with The Pretty Reckless, “Captain Marvel: Alien Nation ” will introduce fans to the history of Carol Danvers and spotlight why she is the hero to watch moving forward.
PiercingMetal Thoughts: That was pretty cool wasn’t it? I don’t have much more to add so I will see you next time and when a new installment of this initiative comes to light I will be sure to add it. Pick up “Mighty Captain Marvel” when it hits your local comic book store and don’t forget to support The Pretty Reckless if they come around to a venue near you.
The Pretty Reckless were recently in NYC promoting their brand new album “Who You Selling For” which comes care of Razor and Tie and that show was discussed in full on THIS LINK. Now please enjoy a more comprehensive photo gallery from our time in the permitted area for such things.
Artist: The Pretty Reckless Venue: Terminal 5 (New York, NY) Opener: Them Evils & Holy White Hounds Date: 11/16/2016 Label: Razor and Tie
Though I hadn’t yet heard the full new album by The Pretty Reckless, I was loving the first single that I had been spinning with “Take Me Down”. I spoke about the rocking hit song HERE if you wanted to learn my thoughts and what excited me about tonight was that this would be the largest venue that I had seen TPR doing their thing in concert. I’ve often mentioned how Terminal 5 was not my favorite venue in the music scene of NYC and that remains true based on the distance and time it adds onto one’s schedule when bounding about the city but since tonight was a comfortable evening and not yet super cold, an early arrival made this alright by me. This time LOL.
Them Evils: I had made sure to be on point for a couple of reasons and the first was based on the aforementioned hike to the actual club but the second was a lot more important when it came down to it since it was to check out this lead off band. One of my reps was working with them and was interested in my take so why not enjoy the whole show from beginning to end. Sometimes it’s not possible to do that but I was glad that tonight offered that means. Them Evils is a three-piece Hard Rock band out of Orange County, CA and to my knowledge they are not yet signed. They really got the crowd started and I was happy to find the audience that was already on point was rocking out hard as they played a mixture of originals and some peppered in covers. I’ll have to assume that they played their whole self-titled EP for the masses tonight and the covers chosen were AC/DC’s “It’s a Long Way To The Top” and Motorhead’s “Ace Of Spades”. Hopefully they will be remembered after this tour for more than doing some solid renditions on classics as the band really deserves the nod. Add them to your up and coming list with thumbs up from me. Holy White Hounds was next. Continue reading The Pretty Reckless @ Terminal 5 (11/16/2016)→
Artist: The Pretty Reckless Title: “Take Me Down” (Single) Label: Razor and Tie Release Date: 8/9/2016 Genre: Rock Rating: 4.5/5
I was one of the guests that was late to the party when it came to The Pretty Reckless, that bluesy-Hard Rock band fronted by Taylor Momsen but after catching them in concert a couple of times over the recent years have to say that they are one of those bands you need to follow. “Take Me Down” is the first single from their forthcoming album “Who You Selling For” and after giving a quick few listens I have to say that if there is more like this one on the album, then we are going to have a great time checking them out in concert once again when their touring cycle begins in October. Let’s talk about the track a little more. Continue reading “Take Me Down” (Single) by The Pretty Reckless→
