If you’re brand-new to our web-based publication then let me tell you just how much I love hitting the comic book and science fiction conventions that take place in New York City. Not only has PiercingMetal been a regular media attendee for the massive New York Comic Con, Anime NYC and Toy Fair conventions for many years but we also lend the love to smaller scaled events like the Big Apple Comic Con, Five Points Festival and the Winter Con which is actually taking place this weekend and is the reason for this announcement. Let’s focus on a couple of points shall we.

So What’s WinterCon??? According to their own promotional efforts its “The LARGEST Sci-Fi convention in the NY area! Held annually at Resorts World NYC. Wintercon is a large expo that hosts celebrities, creators, fans and vendors from TV, movies, books, cosplay, comics, gaming, collectibles, anime and so much more!” Though I have not been in attendance for a few years I can confirm that its an entire floor of the casino so make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes.

Where Is It? The Convention will be held at the Resorts World Casino and the location is tagged in our listings so click HERE for the exact geography and how best to get there. I usually take the MTA as that leaves me within a couple of blocks.

Who Should I See? I know that I’ve said this before about this and pretty much every convention that I’ve written about and truth be told you should really try and see as many people as possible. Maximize your convention experience. Now last time around I shared two Instagram posts from 2021 adventures that feature both Barbie Chula and the always lovely Miss Cheng. Since I liked those particular visuals I am using them once again so I hope you don’t mind the repeat. These will also hopefully spark your attention to our Gram profile where thousands of images await you. Back to who should I see, I always love stopping by the table of Keith Williams and Larry Hama and don’t let me forget Nelson DeCastro. There are so many more but these are folks that I always manage to chat with when I run into them. Since I don’t know what vendors will be there I cannot guide you any further.

Will You Be In Attendance:As much as I hate to tell you this, it doesn’t look like I will be attending this one since I pitched my interest and didn’t hear back on it at all. Trust me that happens sometimes and with this particular event there is no lengthy media submission forms to fill out and you instead end up using a central email address. After working in IT for a number of years I can tell you that such things get overrun with every single inquiry possible and finding the most important ones becomes a chore. I do hope many of you in the readership audience manage to get there and have a good time. Be sure to chime in down below in the comments section to let me know how it was since I cannot join you.

Universal Pictures “The Munsters” Official Trailer

the munsters, the munsters movie logo, universal pictures, movie logos

While I would normally post this kind of a movie trailer post over on “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken”, I decided to let it run on PiercingMetal based on the fact that its monster based, is a redo of a classic television show and oh yeah, it comes from the creative brain of one Rob Zombie. According to reports, the creeptastic performer was a huge fan of the original Horror Comedy and has added his revision of it to his box of films. Let’s take a look at the recently dropped trailer. I’ve also added a basic premise, some of the casting and some artwork. Enjoy.

The Premise: Reboot of “The Munsters”, that followed a family of monsters who moves from Transylvania to an American suburb. (c/o IMDB)

Opening Today: “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” (12/2/2013)

Poster - The Hobbit - The Desolation of Smaug - 2013

Hey there my friends and traveler’s to the fantasy world of Middle Earth, today is the day that the second chapter of “The Hobbit Trilogy” opens up in theaters everywhere. As with the first chapter “An Unexpected Journey” the film was produced and directed by Peter Jackson, the man behind the incredibly successful “Lord Of The Rings” trilogy. I loved those films and happily added them to my collection when they became available. Now you might remember that I had some reservations about the single book story being expanded into three films but oh well. Believe it or not I have not yet seen the first chapter and by the looks of it, I think I will be waiting for all three to be out so I can binge on them like I do with any number of series on Netflix. Are you excited about the story so far? How fast will you see it? I welcome all comments but please don’t put any spoilers in for those who hate that stuff.
