The Press Release:
In the early 90s, Steve Rogers transformed into CAPWOLF in writer Mark Gruenwald and artist Rik Levins’ unforgettable “Man and Wolf” story arc. Now over 30 years later, CAPWOLF is back in his own limited series, CAPWOLF & THE HOWLING COMMMANDOS!

“Capwolf & The Howling Commandos” #1

Written by Stephanie Phillips and drawn by Carlos Magno, this four-issue limited series will tell an all-new story where Steve becomes a terrifying werewolf during an early World War II mission. Luckily, his fiercest allies are by his side–Nick Fury and the Howling Commandos! After years of combat, this elite squad of soldiers thought they’ve seen it all but this might be their wildest adventure yet as the series captures the spirit of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s classic wartime storytelling with a modern mystical twist!

When Captain America is transformed into a werewolf on the front lines of World War II, he’ll need the help of the Howling Commandos to take down a band of Nazi cultists who intend to use supernatural forces to turn the tide of battle. But can Cap control the skeptical, jaded Commandos when he can barely control himself?

“This is the kind of story I was dying to tell at Marvel, blending my love of historical fiction with the incredible history of the characters in the Marvel Universe,” Phillips told AiPT. “CapWolf and the Howling Commandos may be a war story, but it also has horror, romance, and a few new characters that we introduce along the way. And just wait until you see Carlos Magno’s incredible artwork on this series…”

Check out an assortment of covers, including a Hidden Gem wraparound piece using Jack Kirby art of the original Howling Commandos and the issue two cover! And be there when the Marvel Universe hears Capwolf’s howl once again this October! For more information, visit Marvel.com.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: This limited series sounds like a lot of spooky monsterized fun and yes I remember when Captain American became “Capwolf” for the very first time since I was a regular reader of the “Captain America” series at the time. I enjoyed that storyline and while I am super curious about this limited series I will very likely be holding back from picking it up since I prefer to have it all in one place when its collected into a single volume. I do admit that this is the perfect Halloween treat for any of the comic collecting younger set in your family circle if you’re not a collector yourself. That’s all I have on this one so do please chime in down below with your thoughts on it all and I will see you next time around. Thanks for reading, please keep safe out there.

Scenes From New York Comic Con 2022: Day Three (Part 1)

Alright my friends, we are at the halfway point in our adventures at the famed New York Comic Con for 2022. After spending a good amount of hours at the event on Thursday and Friday, I can safely say that its gotten over its pandemic attendance and is closer to being as packed to the rafters as before. I’m starting on the Day Three stuff with this post and since the newbie visitors will have missed a lot of the fun by now I am going to suggest that they click HERE to see everything that has already been posted. I tend to speak in a continuous fashion and sometimes refer to other posts so starting from the get go makes the most sense. Now while I try to only begin snapping pictures once I am inside and ready to go, sometimes I see sights that I must secure in case I don’t see them again. That would be the case with this awesome Stargirl and Doctor Fate who I met on the “7” train heading to Javits.

Now that I was inside the Javits I could do a new “hey we’re here” video short. I’ve honestly been loving doing these as they are so unscripted and fun to load up from this kind of event. I feel I might move forward with this practice at all the events I attend. Can’t hurt right?
