I am proud to state that I have been a big fan of “Star Wars” since the very first film which I saw very early in the run at the Ziegfeld Theater in NYC and while I’ve caught every single film I am not too up to speed on any of the animated series. Thanks to the folks at Disney+ we diehards are going to get as many “Star Wars” shows as we are Marvel related ones and they have just revealed the Official Trailer for “Star Wars: The Bad Batch”. Let’s take a look shall we?

The Premise: Clone Force 99, also known as the Bad Batch—a group of elite clone troopers with genetic mutations that were first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars—take on daring mercenary missions in the aftermath of the Clone Wars.

Check out the poster, premise and cast and then I will return briefly with some thoughts.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: So I liked but didn’t “love” “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” because I felt it was trying to do too much. This film looks a lot more exciting to me as it showcases the badness of The Galactic Empire and the random forces of freedom that are hoping to escape its clutches. I’ve long felt that we should have seen stuff like this once “Revenge Of The Sith” had been released and now we are. I am not sure that I am going to get to it on the opening day since the holidays are imminent but it will not be long after if I do not. What about you Star Wars maniacs? Are you reading this post from the line at your neighboring theater where you stand ready for the first showing? Let me know in the comments section below and be sure to NOT look at the official Wiki once the film opens because spoiler stuff is always present there once a film is opened.

Official Trailer #2: “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” (12/2016)

We’ve been waiting since August for another trailer for the upcoming film in the Star Wars universe when we got our first proper glimpse of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and only a short time ago the second official trailer was unveiled and its a good one. So sit back and sip that coffee or tea if its your preference and look away from Facebook for a couple of minutes to properly enjoy this on the screen of your computer. Remember that while this film follows “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in terms of release, its actually taking place in the time before that “A New Hope” film that I am sure quite a few of you have seen. This second trailer is even more substantial than the first was so enjoy.

The Premise:
Following the foundation of the Galactic Empire, a wayward band of Rebel fighters come together to carry out a desperate mission: to steal the plans for the Death Star before it can be used to enforce the Emperor’s rule. Edwards stated that the style of the film will be similar to that of a war film, stating, “It’s the reality of war. Good guys are bad. Bad guys are good. It’s complicated, layered; a very rich scenario in which to set a movie.”

Back in April I said something like this “Fans of the Star Wars franchise were certainly excited last year when these films returned to our full on attention with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. It was the 7th film in the historic mythology and took place some thirty years after we last saw our heroes. I’m sure you’ve all seen that one by now in some fashion because the film generated a whopping $2 billion dollars in the box office. I’m sure that home video sales propelled that number higher but enough on that. Now its time to explore other parts of the Star Wars timeline with this tale that takes place after “Revenge Of The Sith” and before “A New Hope”. The teaser for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” was pretty cool and sent some goosebumps around the galaxy of geekdom but now we have something more substantial as the Official Trailer was released last night and is presented below.
