Hasbro Reveals: Star Wars: The Vintage Collection “Imperial Troop Transport”

Seeing this latest offering from Hasbro really brought back some memories for me because I had SOOOO much of the original “Star Wars” toys it would make your head spin. Sadly, most of these didn’t withstand the sands of time but I know there is a case of the action figures somewhere in my storage container but I digress. This latest vehicle comes from what we’ve seen in the amazing series “The Mandalorian”. You might remember that Hasbro revealed an action figure for him not too long ago and if this is news to you just click HERE to see that post about him. Now let’s take a look at the Imperial Troop Transport and the images that were provided for it from the company.

Update: Hasbro Star Wars HASLAB Jabba’s Sail Barge

Here at the PiercingMetal Media Command HQ we just love the “Star Wars” action figures the the folks at Hasbro keep dishing out and while we didn’t get to see this next bit of coolness at the Toy Fair with our own eyes, we’ve received the update on where it stands and how you diehards can get your hands on one of them. Let’s take a look at the brief press copy along with a video about HasLab.

The Press Copy: Last month at Toy Fair, Hasbro launched a new campaign called HASLAB (linked below) that hopes to put dream products into the hands of fans, starting with the biggest Star Wars vehicle Hasbro and Kenner have ever produced – Jabba’s Sail Barge. We are just 5 days away from reaching our goal, and you’re our only hope to make Jabba’s Sail Barge a reality!

Sounds awesome right? Crowdfunding efforts such as this are nothing new to me as a media scribe since so many different entities are using them to be able to put unique and limited released items into your hands. This next photo shows the scale of this Sail Barge against the Millennium Falcon. As you heard in the video, this barge is about four feet in length. In the press note I received, there was an animation that showed how this barge would fit as many as “182” Klaatus. It was a cool animation but I couldn’t load a 45MB file onto the server – my apologies.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: So what do you think? Are you “That Collector” who has the extra scratch of $500 to get in on the Crowd Funding for it? If you’ve answered “yes” to that inquiry then you better click the link below and act fast because at the time of this writing there are only four days left to participate. According to what I have gleaned on the link myself, once the campaign ends there will no longer be a chance to get yourself a Jabba’s Sail Barge. If you love this and must have it in your collection, you best do it now before it will cost you a whole lot more on eBay or some other sort of auction site. Closing up I do wonder what you toy mavens think about this particular piece and the angle that Hasbro has introduced with their own crowd funding efforts. What would you like to see them build? Perhaps a larger scale section of The Death Star? A proper Darth Vader private chambers? The Mos Eisley Cantina? Truly, the possibilities are endless. See you next time.

An Update 4/3/2018: The following commentary comes from the fine folks handling affairs of this here Hasbro initiative so please check it out. “We’re beyond excited to officially announce the biggest Star Wars Vehicle Hasbro and Kenner have ever produced – Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna) – will go into production!! This premium, 4-foot long collector’s item is available through Hasbro’s new platform, HASLAB, and has exceeded its preorder threshold by almost 3,000 additional backers. Today’s the last day for Star Wars’ biggest fans to be a part of this campaign and preorder their very own Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna)… Even Mark Hamill is on board 😉 If you have followed our HASLAB journey and shared the news along the way these past 45 days – We thank you SO much for your ongoing support”.
