The Scoop:
It was only about “10” days ago when I shared the press release about the Nirvana video “Smells Like Teen Spirit” from their Nevermind album. At the time the video clip was closing in on reaching 1 billion views on YouTube which is super awesome based on just how much content is out there. That notice can be observed HERE in case you missed it. Yesterday, on Christmas Day, this video achieved its one billionth view and has been steadily climbing since. Back in the day one could find this clip being broadcast almost hourly by the famed MTV Channel because back then they regularly played videos more than the Jersey Shore and Housewives Reality Shows that dominate the station nowadays. Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” Video Set To Hit 1 Billion Views On YouTube

The Press Release:
The countdown begins as Nirvana’s video for “Smells Like Teen Spirit” is about to hit one billion views on YouTube. “Smells Like Teen Spirit” opened Nirvana’s break-through release Nevermind (Geffen/UMe) which hit No. 1 around the world, selling more than 30 million copies worldwide.

Nevermind would come to be much more than one of the most successful and influential albums of all time. It returned rock ’n’ roll integrity and passion to the top of the charts and continues to be a singular inspiration to fans and musicians alike over the last three decades–and generations to come.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: This is super cool news because YouTube really seems to be the social network that is getting everyone the most momentum. I use it all the time for video research, enjoyment and yes even for the PiercingMetal website with our own humble little channel that you can subscribe to by clicking over to the profile HERE. I need to use that channel more going forward but hey, this is about the Nirvana clip which really doesn’t have a whole lot of way to go before hitting the 1 billion mark. It was something like a few hundred thousand short, maybe less. I’ll close up this notion now but will return when it happens for good measure. That makes for a solid “Milestone” piece in my humble opinion. See you next time.
