Live Nation Announces “The Big Rock Summer Tour” w Ratt & More

Produced by Live Nation, THE BIG ROCK SUMMER TOUR features legendary rock acts RATT, CINDERELLA’s TOM KEIFER, SKID ROW and SLAUGHTER, four bands that have combined to sell more than 60 million albums, including dozens of radio hits and smash videos. Every night of the tour will feature more party anthems and power ballads than fans could hope for, with the rock n roll caravan hitting more than two dozen North American cities starting June 3 in Farmingville, NY and wrapping September 19 in Los Angeles, CA (see dates below).

Rocklahoma Daily Band Lineups & Music Additions Announced

While we just love the live music scene here at the PiercingMetal High Command, we don’t manage to get to many of the awesome festivals that take place across our own country and abroad. However, since the readership is vast and often reaches way outside of our humble NYC dominion, we make sure to help to raise awareness of what is coming up and that brings me to the news about this years ROCKLAHOMA Festival which as you probably realized will take place in Oklahoma.

The daily band lineups have been announced for Rocklahoma, taking place on Friday, May 24, Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Pryor Creek Music Festival Grounds in Pryor, Oklahoma, just outside Tulsa.

Now in its 13th year, America’s Biggest Memorial Day Weekend Party will feature performances from today’s top rock artists, including: Ozzy Osbourne, Disturbed, Shinedown, Bush, Seether, In This Moment, Steel Panther, Jackyl, Asking Alexandria, and many more. Additions to the already impressive music lineup for Rocklahoma have also been revealed, and include: Gwar, Pop Evil, Corrosion Of Conformity, Hatebreed, Weathers, The Steel Woods, and Slaughter.

The first ever Food Truck and Rock Carnival is here and its going to be loaded for all you Foodies and Fans of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. The three day experience continues today with its third day. The live music for today comes care of Godsmack, Stone Temple Pilots featuring Chester, Skillet, Clutch, Anthrax, Slaughter, LA Guns, Lita Ford, TT Quick, Prophet, Crobot, Like A Storm and a Q&A with Eddie Trunk.

Filmed at both the record release party as well as during the actual tour comes the “Metal Mania: Stripped Across America” DVD. The idea was a pretty good one, and played off the once popular MTV Unplugged idea by taking a number of classic 80’s performers and putting them on tour together. The tour featured such performers as Kip Winger, Great White, Slaughter and Stephen Pearcy (former Ratt) among several others and each musician would play acoustic versions of their hits. I was sad to not attend this tour when it came through town but one cannot hit every show which makes this DVD of some interest to people who had the same thing happen to them. Yet as I looked to it and hoped to find a comprehensive document of the performances, I admit that I felt let down by only finding a single DVD and one that ran a mere 12 songs. The DVD medium is taking over a large amount of ground on the CD and I felt that a lot more could have been included to make this something incredible for the buyer. Most of the performances are top-notch and I have to lend some kudos to Jani Lane, as the former singer of Warrant does a terrific job especially. Lane has had some well-publicized fall-downs and I think the quality of his playing should help him realize that life’s obstacles can be overcome. Slaughter performs their staple track as a full band which to me is not quite stripped but sure sounds good. Winger’s two of their three hits are performed and he does this with no one helping him but his twelve string guitar.
