We’ve recently learned about some doings in the camp of Brooklyn’s own A Pale Horse Named Death so if you are a fan of their sonic output, please read on down below.

The Press Release:
We are pleased to announce that A Pale Horse Named Death re-signed an international deal with SPV. New music is expected to be released in Fall 2018 via the record companies Long Branch Records imprint.

The band led by founding Type O Negative and Life of Agony member Sal Abruscato released their debut “And Hell Will Follow Me” in 2011 and firmly implanted their roots in the metal scene with the sophomore album “Lay My Soul to Waste” in 2013. Presenting Life Of Agony’s Only US Date For 2014

Fans of the band Life Of Agony will likely be spinning in place with excitement as the news about the bands sole US appearance for 2014 taking place at the Starland Ballroom this coming September.

Tour - Life Of Agony - 2014

This will mark what amounts to the second reunion of Life Of Agony who seemed to be all about finished as a touring group over the last couple of years. Drummer Sal has his A Pale Horse Named Death group while Alan Robert has been working on comic book releases. Singer Mina has been doing solo gigs while Joey remains active in his studio working on numerous projects. That being said it’s definitely special when a band that is not currently touring decides to make a special one-off appearance and the Starland Ballroom will be the perfect place for this particular show. Personally speaking I’ve never been more than the casual listener to this particular band but I do know plenty of fans out there who felt that this band spoke to them on numerous levels across their lives with their debut “River Runs Red” and its follow-up “Ugly”. I’ve caught them on various tours a couple of times over the years and can attest to their being able to deliver a solid show. This will clearly be one that their fans remember for a long, long time.

Tickets for this special event of a show will go on sale on July 18th at noon and you can purchase one by clicking HERE

A Pale Horse Named Death in Concert (1/16/2014)

Artist: A Pale Horse Named Death
Venue: The Studio at Webster Hall (New York, NY)
Opener: Dead Superstar and Borgo Pass
Date: 1/16/2014
Label: SPV Records

I’m going to say that it was a little over two years ago that I first (and last) caught A Pale Horse Named Death in concert and while the band recently had one of the opening slots for the Danzig tour that came through town, I did not manage to attend that particular event. That said I was rather excited to find them returning to a show in The Big Apple and once again delivering their Doom-Laden Stoner Metal to the assembled fans at The Studio at Webster Hall. I really enjoy the intimacy of this particular venue and have seen it packed to capacity on a number of occasions. This evening’s show would be more “comfortable” than those times with what I assumed to be a close throng of about 100 or so of the bands faithful. Opening the show were two bands from Long Island, or “Strong Island” as the lead singer of Dead Superstar proudly proclaimed. They had a solid sound and good support from friends that had travelled in to catch their 8:00pm slot. I would catch them again if I learned they were on a bill and I had the means to do so. The same view could be applied to that of Borgo Pass, a band whose name I had heard kicking around for a few years but was never able to catch until this evening. Their sound had a very Black Sabbath tone to it and to play off that scenario the band even included a rendition of “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” in their set.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Hey this is cool news for me since I have long enjoyed the label output from Steamhammer/SPV AND I have been digging into the gloomy Metal sounds of APHND as far as the tracks that I have heard go so think this is a great pairing. I haven’t seen the band live yet so if you are someone who has please let us all know what they are like in concert. Folks with topical viewpoints about this new label signing can offer them up in the comments section below.
