The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame 2013 Nominees Are….

Yep. It’s that time of the year again when the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame informs the world of their nominees for the honor to be in their esteemed institution. If you caught my not too subtle sarcasm, you can stop laughing now please so we can continue along in this post.

I decided to bring this up once again because so many of the big wigs in music media like to complain about it publicly so why not follow suit and let our own site readers toss in their views into the mix as a result of my bringing it up. Yeah the Rock Hall is not all that Metal and I think that I will have grand children by the time we see groups like Judas Priest, Slayer and Iron Maiden being added but I digress. Let’s go over the criteria for inclusion once more for those who might not yet be aware:

The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame 2012 Inductees Are….

Officially in the books but first a little recap.

Some blog readers might remember that back in September of this year I jumped into the fray and began offering up my position and viewpoints about The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and their seemingly endless supply of idiocy when it came to the Heavy Rock and Metal providers of the world. I felt that if public figures like Eddie Trunk could do it, then why not follow suit for the interested parties and brave whatever the outcome of such words would be. As a music journalist one must stand strong behind their views and this stuff would get a lot of peoples goat. It would also be great if it sent some new readers over to the website. I always like that. Anyway, I posted the nominees in a blog and discussed what merits or lack thereof I felt each of them brought to the table. I was honest and objective and not sitting here stewing with “What the Hell man, they didn’t choose Judas Priest again man!!! That’s bull!!!”. Check out that posting HERE and feel free to comment on those views if you like. It’s always great to know what people think.

The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame 2012 Nomination Cluelessness

With so many radio & television personalities in the music industry tossing out their public discontent about the shenanigans that the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame gives us each and every year; I felt that it was high time for the PiercingMetal Blog to offer a take on this as well.

To start I would like to thank the committee that sits on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame judging panel for once again providing amusement and numerous levels of argument from the fans of Hard Rock, Classic Rock and Heavy Metal music by offering up a list of nominees that are bound to set people on their ear. I will admit this to you readers very early on because one of my main points of disdain with the Rock Hall comes from their continual oversight of the band KISS who are not only my favorite group of them all, but are also a band that has been eligible for inclusion for about thirteen years. If you don’t know the skinny on how groups become eligible, here is a brief on the process:

Attention: The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Annex In NYC Is Closing Soon

Do you readers remember when my buddy Skeleton Pete Parrella and I wandered through The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s “Rock Annex” down in the Village last year? You don’t???? Well, perhaps THIS LINK will raise the awareness level and I do stress that you read it because I just received an email informing me that “The Rock Annex” will be closing in the coming weeks. The poster pretty much lines out the whole thing so take a look.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Looking back on that report myself I had to say that I greatly enjoyed wandering through its aisles even though there was no photography permitted. I’m guessing that any number of factors were the reason for this and considering just how high rents are going in our fair metropolis it was likely too difficult to maintain against what the attendance was bringing in. Remember these places have to have a continuous staff making sure guests are catered to. Perhaps if they had allowed photographs there would have been a bigger interest as the curious reader from afar sees something that “they must witness in person”. I don’t know but whatever the case may be, if you don’t get down to the exhibit before its closing in the first week of 2010 then its going to be something that you might regret not witnessing. Of course for me there was the continued pain of knowing that my favorites of them all, the mighty KISS were not represented but they are not in the Rock Hall yet and who knows when that will ever happen. To my knowledge we still don’t have Rush and Deep Purple in there but let me not turn this into a lamenting soapbox. The exhibit has a discounted price and is worth seeing before it leaves The Big Apple. Enjoy it while you can because another Starbucks is likely going to go into the space or a nail salon.
