Revolver/Epiphone Unveil The “Epiphone Revolver Music Awards” Coming 12/16

I hated to miss the announcement that was held yesterday evening at the popular Saint Vitus Bar where Revolver and Epiphone unveiled their newly branded “Revolver Music Awards” show. The announcement was coupled with a launch of Dave Mustaine/Megadeth’s beer called “A Tout La Monde” and according to the photos that I have seen online, Dave himself tended bar and doled out the new brew. Hopefully the folks that enjoyed the beverage tipped accordingly and most importantly drank responsibly. Okay so below is the full on press release about the awards show. Dig in.

The Press Release:

(New York, N.Y.): A riff-roaring, loud, and unholy metallic takeover of New York City is on the horizon, as NewBay’s Revolver Magazine and Epiphone are pleased to announce the return of their jointly-presented, annual hard rock awards show. The event boasts a variety of thrilling changes that are sure to slay headbangers, hard rockers, and moshers the world over.

Now known as “The Epiphone Revolver Music Awards,” the event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, December 13 at Webster Hall in New York City. The RMAs will be livestreamed by Twitch.TV and hosted by metal legend and Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine alongside SiriusXM’s Jose Mangin.

This year’s show will feature the same top-tier talent the production has long been known for. The aforementioned Megadeth will serve as the headliners, while additional performers include Zakk Wylde, Lacuna Coil and Stitched Up Heart. A Fallen Heroes All-Star Jam, featuring Ace Frehley, Bumblefoot, Pop Evil, Butcher Babies, and more is also scheduled. More performers will be announced soon.

Here Be The Winners Of The 2014 Revolver Golden Gods Awards

For those that might be interested, last night the Revolver Golden Gods Awards for 2014 took place and were streamed across the Internet over mediums such as Amazon.com to name one of the few and as in the past, the greats of the Metal Scene assembled en masse in order to honor talent and achievement in our crushing genre.

I secured the winning list from the official Revolver Magazine site and wanted to get it out to you readers of the PM.com blog so you are in the know in case you didn’t watch the streaming video and were otherwise engaged but dying to know the results. I admit that I didn’t really watch too much of it this year but will watch the highlight reel that will air on VH1 Classic in the coming weeks for sure. Despite that I did notice a lot of my Metal Media friends were in attendance and thanks to their numerous Facebook postings I was able to enjoy the happenings through their eyes. Here are the winners in the various categories.

Full Winners:
Best Vocalist: Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age
Best Live Band: Rob Zombie
Most Devoted Fans: Avenged Sevenfold
Best New Talent: Twelve Foot Ninja
Comeback of the Year: Deep Purple
Paul Gray Best Bassist Award: Chris Kael, 5FDP
Best Film & DVD: Pierce the Veil
Best Drummer: Arin Ilejay, Avenged Sevenfold
Song of the Year: Five Finger Death Punch, ‘Lift Me Up’
Most Metal Athlete: Josh Barnett, Mixed Martial Arts
Dimebag Darrell Best Guitarist: Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance, Avenged Sevenfold
Album of the Year: Black Sabbath, ’13?
Golden God Award: Joan Jett
Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award: Axl Rose

The night featured performances by Slayer, A Day To Remember, The Pretty Reckless, Suicide Silence (who were joined by Max Cavalera for “Roots Bloody Roots”), Joan Jett and Guns N’ Roses. Clearly Avenged Sevenfold were the big winner this time around and made me think back to the time when the Foo Fighters won almost every Hard Rock and Metal category during the Grammy’s a few years ago. Their a band that I still need to catch in concert so perhaps when they headline this years Rockstar Mayhem Festival. What are your thoughts about the winners of these awards and if you saw the show what did you think of it? Let us know in the comments below which have been left open for your thoughts.
