The previously announced reunion of Mr. Bungle (discussed HERE) and their subsequent adding of dates for these select shows (discussed HERE) were great announcements but the massive bit of curiosity was who would be opening for these shows. Now, those answers are revealed. Check it out down below.
The Press Release:
Eureka, Calif. – Mr. Bungle, who surprised fans last month when they unexpectedly announced several live performances, all of which sold out within moments of their on-sale, have announced the bands who will be joining them for the highly-anticipated performances. Hand-picked by the Mr. Bungle band members, the openers include Cattle Decapitation, Possessed, Hirax, the Melvins, Ho99o9, C*nts and Spotlights, reflecting a mix of artists that both influenced the Eureka-born outfit’s 1986 demo, The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny, as well as current bands that the musicians are both fans of and feel are carrying on the spirit of that era, both musically and in attitude. News about reunions are no longer really a surprise to anyone when they happen, well, that’s how I see it at least but sometimes they do seem to come out of left field and make you a tad bit surprised. Such is the case of Mr Bungle, the band that singer Mike Patton fronted BEFORE he joined the blockbuster Faith No More. Here is the scoop.
The Press Release:
Mr. Bungle performs The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny, the Eureka-born band’s 1986 self-produced/released demo, in a trio of February shows: Feb. 7 at the Fonda Theatre (Los Angeles), Feb. 8 at the Warfield Theatre (San Francisco) and Feb. 10 at Brooklyn Steel (New York City). The dates mark both the first time Mr. Bungle has performed in close to 20 years and the first time these songs have been played live in over 30 years.
It was back in July that I first heard the rumblings about the reunion tour by all of the original members of the legendary musical group The Dixie Dregs. For those not in the know, this was a very unique and interesting musical collaboration that mixed, Rock with Bluegrass with Country with Fusion and Electric Jazz. I remember the first time that I heard them many years ago that my mental music database just rebooted itself a few times to try and figure it out. Check out the press release below about the full on “Dawn Of The Dregs Tour” that is coming our way in 2018.
The Press Release:
Critically acclaimed and six-time GRAMMY®-Award nominated musical virtuosos, THE DIXIE DREGS (a.k.a The Dregs), are gearing up for a national U.S. tour starting February 28. The performances will mark the first time in 40 years the original band–Steve Morse (guitar), Andy West (bass), Allen Sloan (violin), Steve Davidowski (keyboards) and Rod Morgenstein (drums)–will share the stage. Tickets are on sale now.
The “DAWN OF THE DREGS” 25-date tour–with additional dates to be announced soon–will take the band across the country starting on February 28 in Clearwater, FL and make stops in Atlanta, Charleston, Washington D.C., New York City, Boston, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Chicago, Milwaukee, Boulder and Phoenix, among many others, before wrapping April 25 in Dallas, TX. “This tour is the result of the overwhelming requests we’ve received from a loyal audience of diehard Dregheads, and new fans who have never seen us perform live, but discovered the band for the first time through Steve’s membership in Deep Purple, or Rod as the drummer for Winger,” said Dreg’s bassist, Andy West. “We can’t wait to playfor them all,” adds West.
For guitar aficionados, Steve Morse needs no introduction, and his place in the pantheon of guitar greats is certain. But in fact, his career started with the DIXIE DREGS. The band traces its true beginnings to the band Dixie Grit, which started in a Georgia high school with Steve on guitar and Andy West on bass. Dixie Grit morphed into the DIXIE DREGS at the University of Miami School of Music, where Allen Sloan (violin) and Rod Morgenstein (drums) joined up with Steve and Andy, who were the “dregs” of Dixie Grit. When Rhapsody chose to split into two separate musical entities I myself was a bit torn since I loved the power and the majesty that their music brought to life and instead of choosing sides, I opted to support both sides of the fence and view it as the chance to come home with twice as much Cinematic Metal music. Each side brought an interesting vibe to the Power Metal table and now the time has come for reunion but before you sharpen your sword for the rallying victorious battle, please know that this news comes with you needing to find a place to store your armor and a place to stable your trusty steed as this is also a Farewell Tour. The prophets spoke of this from translations found on ancient scrolls and now the time is drawing near for an ending. The full press release and some artwork are below but no dates have been revealed at the point of this posting.
Fabio Lione, Luca Turilli, Dominique Leurquin, Patrice Guers and Alex Holzwarth proudly announce the reunion of the original members of RHAPSODY, and the relevant farewell tour of the band.
The Italian band Rhapsody, one of the greatest icons of Symphonic Power Metal, will gather together to commemorate the 20th Anniversary from their first official release, playing their album “Symphony Of Enchanted Lands” in full, as well as other classics of the band. It will be an exciting and emotional event no one should ever miss, as this will be the only and last chance to see the band performing on stage together. The Rhapsody’s 20th Anniversary Farewell Tour will be hosted by Top Link Music.
Since its consecration in 1997 with the album “Legendary Tales”, Rhapsody has become a worldwide awarded band thanks to its unique, epic and orchestral sound. Initially baptized in the “Hollywood Metal” style, because of its movies-related fascination and its characteristic epic soundtrack elements, the Italian band established itself as one of the biggest names in Symphonic Power Metal thanks to their second release “Symphony Of Enchanted Lands”, which soon became a classic of that music genre. Rhapsody’s main influences also include classical composers such as Vivaldi, Bach, Beethoven, Paganini and many others (the song “The Wizard’s Last Rhymes” from Rain Of A Thousand Flames, for example, is based on Antonín Dvořák’s “New World Symphony”). These elements made the band clearly unique in the whole heavy metal scene and, thanks to its magic, gathered lots of fans all over the world and inspired many bands, giving birth to a brand new musical wave and genre, that established a real and effective Rhapsody imagery. The 20th Anniversary Farewell Tour will represent a last chance for everyone to feel part of that wonderful magic once again. Luca, Fabio, Patrice, Dominique and Alex will celebrate such important and historical event with and for their amazing fans!
