“All I Want For Christmas Is You” (Single) by Starkill

Artist: Starkill
Title: “All I Want For Christmas Is You” (Single)
Label: Prosthetic Records
Release Date: 12/1/2017
Genre: Holiday/Heavy Metal
Rating: 5/5

At the time of this little summary, I think that I have managed to see the band Starkill about five times over the recent years. They’re always an exciting band in concert and good folks to talk to at their merchandise table after the set. They’re all engaging and appreciative of the interest shown in them. Recently, they added a fifth member to the lineup with a young lady name Sarah Lynn Collier joining as their vocalist but don’t worry, Parker Jameson is still handling some of that. The band has chosen to introduce her to their world of fans in this throttling version of the Christmas classic made famous by Mariah Carey with “All I Want For Christmas Is You”. If you think the idea of Starkill doing a Christmas song is a bit strange I suggest that you dig into the Twisted Sister, Misfits and Dropkick Murphys offerings before casting stones. So, what of this Christmas ditty by the Trans-Starkill Orchestra? Let’s discuss.

Win A Ticket For Marty Friedman @ Highline Ballroom On 8/4/2017

The Details: If you play the guitar and are a fan of the Metal and Rock side of the fence then you very possibly know the name of the great Marty Friedman who worked for a number of years alongside Dave Mustaine in Megadeth. The musician has been a solo artist for quite some time now and has released a number of albums in his new location of Japan. Every so often he decides to pay a visit to the place he once called home and deliver incendiary displays of guitar virtuosity. With that in mind we are pleased to offer up this new contest for his performance at the Highline Ballroom next week. Read on down below for the rules on how to participate in this contest ticket giveaway. This should be a good one and features Scale The Summit and The Fine Constant as support.

When and Where: Friday, August 4th @ Highline Ballroom 431 West 16th Street (New York City)

To Participate: I’ve decided to keep this an easy one and by saying that I mean I will be sticking to my usual formula of you readers giving me “3” things that you like most about Marty Friedman and his body of work. Perhaps there are albums that “spoke” to you or concert appearances that sent you to the music shop to snag some tablature – whatever. Just give me three solid answers and how important it is to be at this show. I know I make you work but I work here too so whining will not win out at all LOL. Make this good reading because the stuff remains on the website and can likely inspire new fans as well on how our freebies work. Writing “because he rocks dude” is just too un-original and boring. I’ll be responding to the comments that I like most right below their answer. Kindly review some guidelines before entering your submission.

Starkill Announces “Shadow Over North America” Tour 2017

You’ll have to pardon me on this one since I didn’t seem to find any sort of official press mailer so either I missed it or one was not sent out. It’s a moot point anyway as the band members took to their social networking pages and made the announcement about their tour. I culled together two notices for you (essentially editing the later one right after the one that I had on this post date). Check out the skinny on the Starkill “Shadow Over North America” Tour.

The Statement:
Gonna be back out doing the thing in a few weeks. Let’s drink some rum and headbang. Tell yo’ kids, tell yo’ wife, tell yo’ friends. If you don’t see your city on there right now, you probably will in a few days. More dates being confirmed as we speak! Come see us blasting through our new album Shadow Sleep on our first-ever tour as a five-piece band! This is Sarah Lynn’s first tour with us a full-time member, and we have an incredible show planned, and will even be performing a brand-new song of our forthcoming record. Which shows will YOU be at? Spread the word!

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Wait a minute what???? New member? Why wasn’t I notified of this new development and an obvious shift in the galaxy shattering sound of these lads? Hmmm, perhaps I missed an email somewhere along the line but you know what that doesn’t matter at all and welcome to the band Sarah Lynn. I look forward to hearing what you can do and how your skills up the game for the band as they continue their climb towards the peaks of success. Sure that’s all a little creative jibber jabber in terms of how I’m speaking but you know what, I’ve seen Starkill about five times over the past couple of years and not only have I enjoyed them on the stages of my great Big Metal Apple, but I’ve even chatted and joked a bit with them at their merchandise booth and can speak plain truth about their awesomeness. They’re all great guys and a couple of them are big KISS fans so it’s easier for me to give them the nod of approval. I’m excited about the visit that they are making to NYC but have to see if I can make it since it’s on the holiday weekend. If not, I know that I will get another chance sooner than later. This is a band that I need more of you readers to get behind and believe me when I say trust me. I am not here to steer you wrong or make you listen to some horrible stuff. My goal is to build up your personal arsenal of Metal awesome and since it’s never too late to get into a band, you can set your coordinates on Starkill. Let me know what you think of this new tour announcement and the additional member. Especially if you’ve seen the band before and wish to convince people to come along in your line of thinking. I’m going to close this up now, I’ve got to get myself tickets to see “Wonder Woman”. You should do that as well since I am hearing good things so far and its only just opened.

Starkill Announces 2017 Headlining Tour

Christmas is right around the corner and for some fans of the Melodic Death Metal stuff, the presents have arrived a tad early as the band Starkill have just announced their first-ever headlining tour. Check out the bands official Facebook statement on the matter and I’ll return with some additional thoughts afterwards.

The Statement:
HEADLINING TOUR!!! Hey Starkillers, the time has finally come! We’re extremely excited to announce that after three years of rigorously touring the globe as support for many incredible international acts, we will now be doing our first US headlining tour, along with labelmates and heavy-metallers Spellcaster. Many of you for years have been requesting longer setlists, and now is your chance to catch us playing over an hour of material that will equally represent ALL THREE albums from our catalog. Please make sure to comment, share, and tag your fellow metalheads to ensure maximum exposure is ensured for this tour, as we need YOU to turn this into the party we’re all waiting for. See you all soon! – Parker Jameson

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’ve been saying for years that fans who attend the shows should be arriving early enough to see the support acts because you never know what sort of wonders that you will witness up on the stage. There are far too many awesome groups out there who are generally locked into the first or second support slot on a massive band bill and by missing groups you don’t get your money’s worth. For me, Starkill is one of those bands that always helped to kick the night into gear but sometimes the legions were not all in attendance yet and were killing that last or second to last cold beverage. The time is now for all to listen a lot more closely to what comes next and this is the perfect time and place to begin the process. End public service announcement, so how awesomely awesome is it to learn of a Starkill headlining run? I think its uhm…awesomely awesome. I’ve seen the band at least four or five times now and had some fun exchanges with them at their merchandise table and can state that they are good dudes who really know how to engage you in music, on the stage and in person. That’s a Metal Trifecta for me my readers and while the sounds of Spellcaster still elude me I will be looking into them after the holidays. Let me know what you think about this tour down in the comments section and hey if you still need something to fill your Christmas stocking, how about a little Starkill music? There are links down below for you to use for the naughty or the nice. See you next time.
