Phil Anselmo Unveils Additions For “Housecore Horror Fest” 2015

I just received some new press alerting type stuff discussing several awesome additions to this this year’s edition of the “HOUSECORE HORROR FEST” and if this is something that you don’t know a stitch about, it’s a massive event that was formed under the watchful eye of Phil Anselmo. I’m sure you know who that is at least. Anyway, it’s not anywhere near my wonderful Metal Metropolis, but check out the poster and bands playing along with the official press copy. I have to admit that I love this new poster since its a play on “Dawn Of The Dead”.

This November, Philip H. Anselmo’s Housecore Horror Fest will celebrate its third year of audio and visual bedlam. Set to commence in San Antonio, Texas at the Aztec Theater (201 E Commerce St.) on November 13th -15th, 2015, the horror-themed film and metal gala promises to be louder, gorier and more bludgeoning than ever before boasting two film-screening rooms, multiple vendors, special artist signings throughout the weekend and what’s morphing into one of the most debilitating lineups of the year!

Phil Anselmo Unveils Superjoint Reunion “It Takes Guts” Tour For Summer 2015

There have been a lot of tour announcements these last few weeks and that is a good thing at the beginning of the summer because it means that we fans of the Metal will have a lot of different things to do with our hard-earned cash. Let’s face it, there are few better ways to spend your free time than with a bunch of your friends going crazy at a Metal show. Speaking of crazy Metal shows, let’s get on down to brass tacks as Phil Anselmo announces the reunion of his band Superjoint (which seems to have dropped the “Ritual” part of their moniker) as they get set to perform the first shows together in more than a decade. The official Press Release follows the poster and then I will close up with some personal insight.

Phil Anselmo Announces Return Of “Housecore Horror Fest” for 2015

While I didn’t go to this based on the distance, I sure wish that the logistics were not as prohibitive for me and since I know some of you regional site readers are just crazy enough to jump on a plane, train or automobile to get your dose of the Metal, I am sharing this press release and posted that I received yesterday. Take a look.

Legendary metal frontman and Housecore Records founder, Philip H. Anselmo, is bringing his horror-themed film and metal festival back for a third year. After a great ride in Austin, the festival will kick off in San Antonio, Texas at the Aztec Theater on November 13th -15th, 2015.

The decision to return was driven by the desire to honor his friend and festival co-founder, Corey Mitchell, who tragically passed away last October. Mitchell was the driving creative force behind the festival’s success, and Anselmo believes there is no better way to pay tribute to his friend than to carry on for a third year.

“I’ve got a great team in place to help make this what Corey and I wanted it to be,” he says. “There are a lot of mixed emotions here because no one can replace him. But, we know he would want this to continue and so that’s what we’re going to do. We miss him and think about him every day.”

Black Label Society @ Best Buy Theater (5/10/2014)

Logo - Black Label Society

Artist: Black Label Society
Venue: Best Buy Theater (New York, NY)
Opener: Down, Devil You Know, Butcher Babies
Date: 5/10/2014
Label: eOne Entertainment

I had last caught Black Label Society during the 2013 Gigantour that featured Megadeth and Newsted (the band with former Metallica/Voivod bassist Jason Newsted in case you were unaware). Now that tour itself actually had three more bands on the daily roster but not during its NYC stop which was instead broken up into two shows and left the one without BLS and Newsted being cancelled. For that show Zakk and the BLS boys were supporting the live release “Unblackened” which is a solid recommendation in my book because it was a heavier version of an Unplugged album and from top to bottom this was some raw stuff. There was even a video release to go along with it. Fast forwarding to where we are this evening, it was now time for what was called “The Revolver Golden Gods Tour” and this event seemed to work in tandem with the magazines own awards show. You’ve heard of “The Golden Gods Awards” right? Good, let’s continue then. The four bands on this touring package would begin with Butcher Babies, Devil You Know, Down and close out with the headlining Black Label Society. Since I always find a massive event like this of interest I would get there nice and early in order to be able to bring you thoughts and images on each of the performers. Butcher Babies would be the first item of focus – here we go.
