The time has come my friends, the time to look far into the future of our world when it is ruled by apes as the new 20th Century Studios film “Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes” opens today in theaters everywhere. I’ve shared some other clips and thoughts about the new film which the interested can find by clicking HERE. Growing up I loved the original “Planet Of The Apes” films and while I didn’t see the film before this one, definitely want to check this one out. As a refresher I’m sharing the premise, cast and theatrical release poster. Have at it.

Since a lot of my fellow friends in Geek all seem to love this Seth Macfarlane space series “The Orville”, I wanted to lend a little support because we are fans of Science Fiction here on PiercingMetal.com anyway. Now I should mention that this trailer first came to be released back during the Comic Con International: San Diego, but with so many films and television series to support I held back on this one. The show doesn’t air until the end of the year so a few months delay on this trailer seems fine by me. Take a look at what is to come on the shows second season.

Premise: The Orville is set on the titular U.S.S. Orville (ECV-197), a mid-level exploratory space vessel in the Planetary Union, a 25th-century interstellar alliance of Earth and many other planets.

There were a lot of guest stars to the previous season if you can trust Wikipedia and here they are all summed up by name: Rob Lowe, Brian George, Jeffrey Tambor, Holland Taylor, Jonathan Adams, Rena Owen, Robert Knepper, Giorgia Whigham, Liam Neeson, Rico E. Anderson, Charlize Theron, James Horan, Michaela McManus, Steven Culp, Brian Thompson, Ralph Garman, Robert Picardo, Molly Hagan, Candice King, John Billingsley, Jason Alexander, Patrick Warburton, Ted Danson, Marina Sirtis

PiercingMetal Thoughts: That trailer sure looked like fun and as you can see, it’s not the kind of slapstick comedy that you might expect from Macfarlane. It’s more like a high-spirited adventure show with the occasional quip. Now I have to admit that I’ve only ever watched the first two episodes and while I enjoyed them, I just had too many other shows on my plate and being recorded by my DVR to lend space to another one. I am pretty close to being a lifelong fan of the “Star Trek” franchise and while this is something different entirely, it sure does capture the vibe of the Original Series and some of The Next Generation. Perhaps I will begin recording the second season and seeing what I can On Demand of the first because many friends have said that they love it. What about you readers? Will you be tuning in this winter for the second go round?
