The Scoop:
The CW, Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions announced today that the DC drama series SUPERGIRL will conclude after its upcoming sixth season. The creative team has started developing the storylines for the final 20 episodes, and will begin production later this month. The series debuted in October 2015 on CBS before joining The CW lineup for season two in October 2016. The sixth and final season will premiere on The CW in 2021.
It’s been a really hectic busy time in the days post NY Comic Con and much like the previous years, the immediate days and weeks that follow find us rallying the charge behind the superhero themed television shows. By my count, the DC Comics universe has six unique shows, and most of these are in a connected universe. Now we are up to the Season 3 Premiere of “Supergirl” which airs this evening. I’ve snagged the dramatic poster and offered up some reminder premise and casting down below before my editorial viewpoints.
Season 3 Recap: In the third season, Kara struggles with the loss of Mon-El after he is forced to leave Earth. When Mon-El returns, he reveals that he has time-traveled to the 31st century and founded the Legion, alongside marrying Imra Ardeen. J’onn discovers his father M’yrnn J’onzz is alive and Alex deals with her heartbreak after breaking up with Maggie. Kara and Alex’s new friend, Samantha Arias, is unknowingly another Kryptonian survivor, and begins a transformation from a loving single mother into the world-killing weapon known as Reign, who serves a coven headed by her biological mother Selena. Yesterday, the 2018 Comic Con International: San Diego (or SDCC) continued into what appears to have been its busiest of days. Resultant of the offerings, we’ve been loading up the assorted sneak peeks and trailers that have been revealed across the conventions four days. If you’ve missed any of them, just click HERE for the rundown of these narratives. On Saturday, The CW Network unveiled its trailers for the DC Universe of shows and I’ve loaded them in to run across the day. Let’s continue with “Supergirl”, a show that once aired on CBS but now fits firmly onto a space that makes more sense. Dare I say “Up, Up and Away….”
