Tedeschi Trucks Band Announce NYC Beacon Theatre Residency For Fall

Last night the Tedeschi Trucks Band performed for a capacity crowd at the Central Park Summerstage as the season opening concert and while I wish that I could say that this was sold out, I alas cannot because the wonderful bluesy experience was absolutely free. How cool is that? Pretty damn awesome if you ask me, and one of the other bits of awesome that also happened yesterday was their announcement about a four show Fall residency at the beautiful Beacon Theatre. Sorry that I could not get this to you then but I was rushing off to the concert I mentioned so I hope you will understand. Below you will find the lightly edited press release and some added notes from me. Take a look.

Billy Joel Announces Monthly Madison Square Garden Residency For 2014

Banner - Billy Joel at MSG

A few days ago The Piano Man Billy Joel announced that he would be performing a once a month residency at the famed Madison Square Garden in New York City. He disclosed this monumental news at a press conference. I wasn’t at said conference but Joel’s comments on this have been quoted on numerous outlets and state the following.

“Playing Madison Square Garden is an experience that never gets old; A show a month at the Garden for as long as there’s demand means more opportunities to connect with music fans and provides a unique and memorable show every time we play here.”

The residency will begin on January 27th, 2014 and be followed by gigs on February 3rd, March 21st, April 18th and May 9th. While no additional dates have been announced at the point of this posting, this residency doesn’t appear to have an actual end date so one has to assume that a sold out show will lead to another booking and another and another and another and so on. I guess its safe to say that there has never been a better time to be a Billy Joel fan who enjoys seeing him in concert. Your ticket stub album is going to need a volume of its own if Mr. Joel has anything to say about it.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Before you readers jump down my throats about lining out this particular tour let me explain that I have been a fan of this mans music for decades and even saw him twice in concert at this very arena. Not as many times as I would have liked but once was for his “Innocent Man” tour and the other one perhaps about ten years ago for a tour I don’t recall the name of. With a concert like this you are guaranteed to hear a lot of hits that you would find on the radio at any given time and as I said I’ve enjoyed his work for a long time. He is one of the true Rock and Roll greats in my opinion and changing ones entertainment every now and then is very healthy to do. What do you folks think of this tour? Is it something that you want to give a whirl to expand your horizons or are you just going to wait until the next lesson in crush comes knocking down our doors? Let me know in the comments section.
