Marvel Comics First Issues Coming April 2017

Greetings my Marvelous Marvel maniacs, we are here and its April 1st but it’s no time for fooling around as there are plenty of new first issues launching this month for some sure to be exciting series. Before we get started did you see that trailer for the upcoming “Spider-Man: Homecoming” movie? I posted it on THIS LINK so please check it out if you haven’t yet and let us know what you thought in the posts comments. Now back to the news at hand. As in previous posts I’m sharing the provided copy from the Bullpen itself along with images for these new launches and almost every single issue has multiple variant covers. Remember that there are scores of other concurrently running titles but we’re only focusing on the firsts (and occasional seconds) with this posting. Here we go.

“Black Panther: The Crew” #1

Black Panther: The Crew #1: Black Panther, Storm, Luke Cage, Misty Knight and Manifold band together to take on a dangerous wave of street-level threats in this new ongoing series by co-writers Ta-Nehisi Coates (New York Times best-selling author of Between the World and Me and Marvel’s Black Panther) and Yona Harvey (Black Panther: World of Wakanda) and legendary artist Butch Guice! The death of a Harlem activist kicks off a mystery that will reveal surprising new secrets about the Marvel Universe’s past and set the stage for a big story in the Marvel Universe’s near future. Fear, hate and violence loom, but don’t worry, The Crew’s got this: “We are the streets.”

After the world-shaking events of IVX, the original five X-Men are here to bring mutant criminals to justice and restore a heroic sheen to their team. But with a new leader in JEAN GREY and a new mentor in their “arch-frenemy” MAGNETO, will old rivalries and new conflicts tear these heroes apart?

On Shelves: Hasbro’s “Marvel Legends Series” BAF “Giant Man”

Yes my fiends its time to get excited once more as the next group of the Hasbro Toys “Marvel Legends Series” action figures are on the shelves of your favorite retailers. This set features a few Avengers and some characters from the Captain America comic series and let’s you build an MCU Giant Man. Alas I couldn’t secure images of the Captain America, Iron Man and Black Panther figures as they were the most popular at this particular shop I was in and flew off the shelves the moment they were placed there. With Black Panther being a part of the new Captain America movie and soon to get his own feature this doesn’t surprise me. If I see them on another visit I will take a snap and add to this narrative. Check out what we do have though.

Opening Today: “Captain America The Winter Soldier” (4/4/2014)

Now I realize that I used this to open up the broadcast post about the first Captain America film when it came out but its such a good song that I just had to do it again, here we go 🙂

“When Captain America throws his mighty shield! All those who chose to oppose his shield must yield! If he’s led to a fight and a duel is due then the red and the white and the blue will come through when Captain America throws his mighty shield!!!!!”

Okay, that is out of my system now for the most part but how cool is it that the second film featuring Cap is opening up today as a part of the continued efforts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Pretty damn cool in my book. The poster is pretty dramatic as well, check it out….

Airing Tonight: “Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” (9/24/2013)

Boy have there been a lot of chances to use the “Movie and TV Mania” category, but I am okay with that because we love to spark you to attention about these shows that interest us and most likely you. This has worked out so far and longer time readers probably realize that I am speaking about the day of broadcasting I’ve done when films that speak directly to our audience demographic are opening up. That being said, tonight is the night for the broadcast television premiere of Josh Whedon’s “Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.”….The acronym in the Marvel Cinematic Universe stands for Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division but it was originally Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage, Law-Enforcement Division back in the early days. Then it got changed in 1991 to Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate until its most recent re-branding. For me as a fan of the organization I feel it works. Do you?
