Tonight: “Supergirl” Season 5 Premiere on The CW (10/6/2019)

Though the New York Comic Con might be over, there is still a lot of geeky awesome to entertain us in terms of the comic series announcements and season premieres of shows like the previously discussed “Batwoman” and the fifth season of “Supergirl” which premieres tonight on The CW Network. I’ve snagged the season poster along with a recap of the fourth and much of the main and guest cast for your consumption. Let’s go.

Season 4 Recap: In the fourth season, Kara deals with a new wave of anti-extraterrestrial prejudice secretly instigated by Lex Luthor from prison, forcing her to fight for the civil and political rights of aliens. Ben Lockwood, a former college professor who suffered a series of personal tragedies at the hands of extraterrestrials, forms a human-first group called the Children of Liberty to end all aliens. Meanwhile, in the nation of Kasnia, a clone of Kara dubbed “Red Daughter” is trained by its military to fight Supergirl at Lex’s request. Kara and Alex rival with the DEO’s new addition, Col. Lauren Haley, who was sent to monitor the DEO’s progress under Alex’s direction. Col. Haley and the President try to force Supergirl to reveal her identity, and clash with her and Alex when she refuses. (c/o Wiki)

Tonight: “The X-Files” on Fox (1/3/2018)

Fans of “The X-Files” franchise will be happy to know that the show returns with its series premiere this evening on Fox. Take a look at the poster, light premise and casting. I’ll be back at the close for sure.

The Premise: The season’s storyline will pick up directly after last season’s finale and the search for Mulder and Scully’s son William will be a main story arc for the season.

The Cast:
David Duchovny as Fox Mulder
Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully
Mitch Pileggi as Walter Skinner
William B. Davis as Cigarette Smoking Man
Annabeth Gish as Monica Reyes
Lauren Ambrose as Agent Liz Einstein
Robbie Amell as Agent Kyd Miller
Veronica Cartwright as Cassandra Spender
Chris Owens as Jeffrey Spender
Dean Haglund as Langly, one of The Lone Gunmen
Barbara Hershey as Erika Price
Haley Joel Osment

PiercingMetal Thoughts: So I am not going to lie and say that I liked the previous season or mini-series (which is honestly a better title since it was only six episodes long). I’m willing to program the DVR and give it a chance but I don’t have the highest of hopes and think that the series best moments are behind them. They need to really up the game if they want to contend with all of the Science Fiction, Horror and Super-hero shows that fill our channels in today’s entertainment world. Back in the day they were the rulers of the roost and fans are expecting a whole lot more when it comes down to it today. Let’s see what happens. As I mentioned already I will be setting the DVR but not giving it too long a chance if I don’t enjoy it right out of the gate. What about you? Let me know in the comments below.

Tonight: “X-Files” on Fox (1/24/2016)

It would seem that the truth is still out there and if you still want to believe that there is a larger force at hand in many of the worlds brewings and doings then isn’t it awesome that Agents Mulder and Scully are back at the task on The X-Files. Believe it or not my friends, the exciting Fox television series is returning to broadcast television for a six-part mini-series. Below is the poster, a vague premise and the cast so check it out and then I’ll return to discuss.

Poster - X Files - S10 - 2016

The Premise: The X-Files miniseries is an upcoming continuation of the American science fiction horror drama television series The X-Files, created by Chris Carter, which originally aired for nine seasons from 1993 to 2002 on Fox.
