Will The Original Misfits Be Playing In Philadelphia This December?

It’s not even 48 Hours after what amounted to being a mind-blowing performance at New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden by The Original Misfits and their VERY LAST performance as well which was stated a few times by singer Glenn Danzig (see it HERE we aren’t lying). Then, in a surprising Facebook Page post by Live Nation Philadelphia comes this clip that also features the Flyers team mascot “Gritty”. Take a peek.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Having witnessed that NYC show I can only say that it was an over the top experience from beginning to end and I’m not sure why Glenn maintained that it was going to be the final gig when he did so at the screening of his “Verotika” Film. Perhaps he will say that he was misquoted and taken out of context that it was the final NYC gig as they now seem to be continuing along. As I mused this “announcement”, a friend and I realized that the bands birthplace of Lodi, NJ is a short hop away so perhaps they are setting their sights on that location for a grande finale to the Original Misfits lineup (which is Danzig, Jerry Only, Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein, Acey Slade and Dave Lombardo if you haven’t been paying attention). The Original Misfits have not yet taken this production over to Europe and its without question that they could headline many of the bigger festival happenings by just saying they want in. Maybe we will find an Official Misfits Cruise coming to pass and showcasing Horror and other legendary Punk bands. Don’t laugh since their is a Progressive Rock cruise, a Monsters Of Rock cruise and a KISS Cruise. Only time will tell, but if this does amount to some additional gigs, you should do your best to get there and if you do go, be sure to purchase the official venue shirt fast since I couldn’t get my hands on the NYC one to save my life. It sold out almost immediately. Sigh.

Danzig Says “No More Misfits Reunion Shows After Madison Square Garden In October”

It was back in July when we helped announce the news that the Original Misfits would bring their reunion show to New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden. You can see that post by clicking HERE. Recently, at the opening for Rob Zombie’s “3 From Hell” film, Danzig was stopped on the red carpet by the folks at Bionic Buzz where he revealed that this MSG show will be the final one. Take a look at the clip.

The Original Misfits are comprised of Danzig, Jerry Only and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein who were members of the groups most famous lineup and they are accompanied by drummer Dave Lombardo and guitarist Acey Slade.

The buzz started a few hours ago when some cryptic but still rather telling Instagram and Facebook posts began making the rounds. It was pretty obvious what was going to be the case because a visual of the famous Misfits fiend on the marquee of NYC’s own Madison Square Garden had to mean that they were planning a visit and as it turns out……they were. PiercingMetal Thoughts: Hey Fiends, what can I possibly add to this that you all aren’t already thinking? I mean it’s pretty damned awesome and exciting news that the Misfits will be performing at the worlds most famous arena and bringing along both Rancid and The Damned as support. My hope is that EVERYONE gets there early enough to see The Damned especially because they have been a favorite Punk band of mine for many years. Rancid I like a handful of tracks from but I cannot say that I’ve ever really followed them and their career before. I’m excited to finally get the chance to check them out. Now, having caught the Misfits show at The Prudential Center last year I can only state that it’s going to be a great time for anyone in attendance at MSG. Of course, we might have to lock our mobile devices in the little foam baggies for this show like that NJ gig at The Rock but I anticipate them all getting destroyed midway through the second or third song for sure. Good luck to security in advance who have to police the folks with their mobiles in hand that night. You will have your work cut out for you. Jerry Only of Misfits Signing Super7 “ReAction” Figure @ Forbidden Planet Tomorrow

You’ll have to pardon my missing this news the day it was first announced by a little bit but here we are now and the scoop is here. The great bassist of the legendary Misfits, Mr. Jerry Only will be signing his brand-new ReAction figure that comes care of Super7 at the amazing Forbidden Planet. Forbidden Planet is beyond excited to announce the return of JERRY ONLY, original member of the legendary MISFITS. The punk rock icon will be at Forbidden Planet NYC to celebrate the release of his very own Misfits Super7 Re-Action figure. PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’m a big fan of the items that come out from Super7 and when I hit the assorted conventions I can’t seem to get to my credit card fast enough to get one or two of their latest round of awesome. It was a few weeks ago that I first announced some of their Rock and Metal coolness HERE in case you missed it. I actually saw this super cool Jerry Only figure at the recent Toy Fair but since they were still finalizing some designs with the musician I wasn’t able to photograph it 🙁 What we saw was awesome and we wanted one for sure and now along with all the rest of you I get to get on the line and shake hands with the monster man himself. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet Jerry a number of times over the years while reporting on his shows and appearances such as this and I have to tell you that he is one cool dude. Fans from the region are going to want to be a part of this signing and also get their butts over to the Psycho Las Vegas event where Misfits are one of the headlining acts.
