Back in October we shared the news about the return of Opeth to our shores and a North American Tour. The full scoop on that and some album discussion can be found by clicking HERE. Sadly, with road travel there sometimes comes an issue. Read on down below the original poster.

The Statement:
“I regret to inform you that we have to cancel the following shows on the North American run: Worcester, Toronto and Montreal. The reason being ”acute laryngitis” according to the doc. It all started with voice problems in Royal Oak, Michigan. I had a doctor take a look at me before that show, and even if he gave me the all-clear in terms of being free from flu symptoms and the likes, he couldn’t dismiss potential problems with the vocal cords. Which indeed I had during Saturdays show. So we have a day off to rest during Sunday and arrived in sunny Worcester Monday morning to another doctor’s appointment. This time the doctor advised a 3-4 day rest due to “acute laryngitis”. We set the stage up and started getting ready for soundcheck anyways. As I was warming up my voice it was abundantly clear that I was not going to be able to perform at the level where I want to be vocally. I sounded like a goddamn troll. And not in a good way.

Though we’ve been showcasing a busy few days on the Pop Culture side of the fence with the New York Comic Con taking over our city come tomorrow until Sunday, the Metal and Hard Rock scene is as vibrant as ever with new tour and music announcements such as this recently revealed information from the incredible Opeth. They’ll be coming over to our side of the fence in early 2020 so let’s read on down into the scoop.

The Press Release:
OPETH will make their awaited return to North America in 2020 for a winter tour with labelmates Graveyard. This will be the band’s first tour of the U.S.A. and Canada in support of their newly released, critically praised album, “In Cauda Venenum,” that is available now via Moderbolaget Records / Nuclear Blast. The dates include two nights at the legendary Apollo Theater in New York and performances at the renowned Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and at the famed Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.
