At the onset of December we shared the news about High On Fire and their “Electric Messiah Tour” (seen HERE) and it was going to be a great way to start the 2019 Year in Music. Sadly, there have been some medical concerns with singer Matt Pike and this tour is cancelled in full. Please take a look at the Official Statement and Affected Dates. Refunds should be available at point of purchase.
Frontman Matt Pike has provided a statement:
“Dear Friends and fans,
To my brothers, my crew, and anyone else this affects. I do apologize for the inconvenience of this cancelation. I feel as though I’m explaining lightning striking twice. I wanted nothing more in the world to play these songs live, nor ever cancel something I say I’m gonna do.” Continue reading High On Fire Cancels “Electric Messiah Tour 2019” Due to Medical Emergency→
As the year heads towards a close we are starting to get the alerts about the 2019 touring schedules and here is the latest update from the band High On Fire. Let’s check it out.
The Press Release:
High On Fire have announced the Electric Messiah tour 2019 in continued support of their new LP released earlier this year. These dates will be the first time the band has played live since the cancelation of their tour with Municipal Waste earlier this year due to the partial amputation of Matt Pike’s toe.
High On Fire released Electric Messiah last month to some serious critical acclaim. The A.V. Club stated that “The bar for metal album of the year has been raised” and they couldn’t be more correct. Electric Messiah has landed on both Revolver Magazine and Loudwire’s top albums of 2018 lists.
Consequence of sound said the new LP “successfully construct Sabbath-ian, earth-moving riffs as their blueprint.” Pitchfork said boldly, “When High On Fire rip, it’s like they’re tearing through the whole universe.” Continue reading High On Fire Announces “Electric Messiah” Tour 2019→
I’m not sure how it happened but I missed that last go round for Meshuggah at NYC’s now shuttered and torn down Roseland Ballroom and have never forgiven myself for it since the show was amazing (I was told) and the great venue no longer stands. That thought comes to me because it was a show I could have seen and missed and those chances are not ones we Metalheads should be taking when it comes to a crushing band and their latest tour. This rather long intro is where I share the news about the recently announced tour by Meshuggah who will be hitting our side of the fence in the Fall and bring along High On Fire with them as well. Check it out. The poster, press and dates are below and then I will return to wrap it all up.
